That's correct. I once read that tyson sometimes entered into a silent agreement with guys u was fighting. If he was tired he would clinch a guy and willingly allow him to hold him and not hit back. Can't see that happening with bowe. He would punish tyson on the inside.

But that was the bowe of later years. How would this earliest version do

i think i favor tyson because of the explosive power, he could put bowe down or even out any point while bowe would have to beat him down for 9 or more rounds if he was going to stop him

If bowe gets through those few early rounds and start s to pound tyson back, it'll be a test of tyson s will power to keep going. And a peak bowe would keep pounding.

Agreed. Both were good in the insight but Bowe was a bit better.

Also, Tyson did not like it when a man stood up to him

    thats a myth.
    1. tyson had an all or nothing style, he came out in the first round with everything so if someone could take that its only logical they're gonna have the advantage. Tyson didnt build pressure like a joe frazier or let someone beat on him for half a round just to come backlike evander, he came with everything from the beginning. has nothing to do with heart that was how he fought.
    2. you can use the way an extremely volatile person acted in the ring 10 years after spinks as evidence of how he would act before prison. Prison may well have broken him, believe it or not quitting once doesnt mean you'll always quit, there are many examples of fighters who used to show all kinds of heart but eventually just didnt have it in them anymore and there are even examples of fighters who find the courage within later on in their careers.
    3. plenty of people stood up to tyson, most of them got knocked out: berbick, tubbs, thomas, bruno, ruddock, ribalta . the problem was that he expected them to get knocked out sometimes so he wasnt ready for a tough fight if they took his shots early, mental preparation is just as much a part of winning a fight as physical preperation.
and i assume that for the sake of the thread that both parties would be well prepared

Well put Contro. Haven't seen this view before on the Tyson intimidation factor.

Bowe stops Tyson late in the fight, maybe even gets dropped himself from accumulation but gets up ready for war and shows he's the daddy. ( this scenario could only play out if preceded by a personal feud between the 2 )

I do not agree with the post. Particularly I do not agree with the list of fighters you think stood up to Tyson.
The issue in the fight is that Bowe is a bit better on the insight than Tyson. Yeah Tyson would slip the jab and close the gap, but then what. Bowe had an excellent chin, Tyson would get discouraged after 6-7 rounds

Bowe was pretty easy to hit.

That's what you don't want to be against a prime Tyson.

I think Mike disposes of him before the 5th.

If it goes longer than that then yeah, assuming Bowe isn't messed up completely, then I would favour him.

You heard it from Teddy Atlas more like who happens to be one of Tyson's biggest detractors, Tyson was so much of a better fighter, Bowe would have to come towards Tyson and he'd be destroyed.

    See Tyson Tubbs.
