Hence he retired because he knew he had gotten just as luck as the ROCK got in the first fight with him . So can the bull**** since you either ignore or don't know the facts !:deal

The accusation would have to have the potential to harm Lennox's career somehow for it to really have legs- plus, Lewis would spend more than it's worth to worry about it.

It seems kind of funny to get outraged when any 90's heavyweight is accused of steroid use. Pretty much comes with the territory.

I mean, would anyone really be shocked if it turned out any world class boxer was on something? Or are we still pretending only the ones who test positive are using it, like we do for track stars, NFL players, NBA players, and every other world class athlete that's on something?

:lol:Lennox had 10 days notice?

Lennox Lewis had the benefit of a full training camp. He was preparing to fight Kirk Johnson when Johnson dropped out due to an injury.

The fact here is that Lewis who the media had been putting the pressure on to face a Klitchko, seized the opportunity to fight the least accomplished of the two brothers at the time in a scenario that would benefit himself, Lennox Lewis.
It was Vitali who was put on the spot and offered the Lewis fight on 10 days notice. Lewis had a full training camp, Vitali did not.
Lewis took these facts into account in deciding to retire and not risk having to face a fighter who was beating him on the cards and who in a rematch would now have the benefit of the experience of a big fight, and even better a full training camp!

Take the Lennox Lewis rose colored glasses off my friend!:deal

Sure any boxer or athlete COULD be on or have used PEDs. Many did, but it is deeply unfair to assume that all did or any specific one did absent good evidence. I have no reason to believe that Lewis used, & in this long thread nobody has given any specifics to suggest Lewis was a liar & chat like Holyfield.

It does seem hard to dispute that Boew ducked Lewis when they 1st should have fought. And yes, 2 KOs in a long career, many gought against huge bombers & absorbing much punishment, does not make a China Chin. Just not a top chin.

So did Vitali. Vitali was going to fight Cedric Boswell on the undercard of the Lewis/Johnson fight. They had the same amount of preparation time. Furthermore Vitali claimed to have been preparing to fight Lewis for a year whereas Lewis was convinced at the time that Vitali was garbage and he be able to beat him with minimal effort. Therefore it would not be unreasable to assume that Vitali was mentally more ready for the challenge than Lewis was.

At the time Vitali was a former WBO Champion with two successful defenses to his name but a bad reputation for quitting against Byrd while Wladimir was a former WBO Champion with five successful title defensive but a bad reputation for having been destroyed in less than two rounds by Corrie Sanders. There wasn't much between them at the time in terms of accomplishments or the publics perception of their abilities, but as far as being a potential opponent for Lewis it was clearly Vitali who had the edge being WBC mandatory and undefeated in five with four of those wins by KO.

Again Vitali was training to fight Cedric Boswell on the Lewis/Johnson undercard and had a full camp. The date for Lewis/Johnson was set and had been sold to the networks, they couldn't just cancel everything and had to put on a show, and the easiest fighter to get as a replacement for the injured Johnson at such short notice was the WBC mandatory challenger who had been preparing to fight on that same day on the undercard of that same show.

    Pot meet kettle.

Well there you go, Lewis was training for a championship fight with Kirk Johnson and Vitali was training to fight the feared Cedric Boswell.
I'm certain the same ammount of energy and dedication go into for Boswell that it does training for a 12 round Championship fight.

Bottom line here is that Lewis agreed in the ring to grant Vitali a rematch and then bitched out and retired upon further review of the fight on tape.

You are an idiot. Do you expect me to believe that bull****.
Do you speak for Bowe personally? Do you know his inner thoughts?

Bowe was just an inexperienced 17 year old boy in the olympics. Nobody believes anybody has their 'number'. Espeically not based from an amateur olympic bout.

The result brings a scathing attack from Jay Larkin, senior vice-president of Showtime TV sport. He alleges Lennox has no genuine intention of facing Tyson.

"It's totally untrue to suggest Tyson is afraid of Lewis," stresses Larkin, whose company has exclusive rights to Mike.

"Lewis is welcome in a ring with Tyson on July 13 and we will pay him 10 million dollars - the biggest purse of his life.

"Lewis and his people have refused. In their greed they have tied themselves to HBO TV and can't do business with anybody else.

Sure, Vitali wasn't preparing to fight someone of Lewis's calibre, but Lewis was so sold on his own ego at the time that he wasn't exerting much effort or dedication for anyone. Kirk Johnson wasn't a threat to him and he would have walked that fight if it had happened, and he had such a low opinion of both Klitschko's that he wouldn't have trained any harder had he known months in advance that he was going to face Vitali.

So again I must stress that I find the argument that Vitali was somehow at a disadvantage because of the preparation time to be entirely unconvincing.

Yes. In the heat of the moment he agreed to a rematch but after months of dwelling on the fight and reviewing his performance he decided to walk away instead. Whatever reason you think he made that decision the fact is that he chose retirement over rematching Vitali.

BTW Bowe Olympics to Futch Bowe are two completely different monsters. Holyfield sparred pre-Futch Bowe, who he thought would be a easy fight for himself:verysad
