R. Bowe from 1st Holyfield fight vs. 1990 top form comeback Foreman. I think Bowe has many advantages here, however he's never been hit by Foreman. I favor Bowe but think Foreman also has a chance of taking him out.
This is a very tough, and a very good question. I would have to go with George Foreman via late round KO. Foreman could take enormous amounts of punishment and was a very smart veteran fighter. While Bowe was also an extremely good fighter in his prime, he was very hitable, which Holyfield proved. That would be the difference, because while I feel that Foreman could take all the Bowe could dish out, Bowe would eventually succumb to the power and relentless pressure of Foreman.
^very true, plus I would give the edge in strength to Foreman. Bowe is fighting going backwards in this fight. I will say that this fight has the potential to be the ultimate slugfest. While it would be a huge gamble for him at that age, Foreman KOing Bowe would be within the relm of possibility.
Bowe liked to stay in the pocket and fight. He wasn't particularly nimble or fond of defense. No way he avoids Foremans clubbing bombs. I also think Foremans jab would be problematic here. George by brutal KO.
Bowe would beat up an old Foreman for sure. Great fight, the best Old Foreman fight there could because Bowe wouldn't look to box, he'd brawl and outwork, outspeed and outmuscle old George
Bowe did not have the best set of whiskers though. And it's impossible to outbrawl an old Foreman with a disregard for defense. Bowe was hit, hurt and staggered by most punchers he fought, even ones that aren't anywhere near Foreman in terms of power like Herbie Hide and Holyfield. Old Foreman was the most heavy-handed mother****er I've ever seen. Few people could take the barrage that decimated ****ey and stay up. Bowe ain't one of them.
Bowe should win based on his speed advantage. However, he never used the type of movement he was capable of using. He stood right in front of most of his opponents, and against George, even 42 yr old comebacking George, that is not a good idea. George, for his part was pretty slow and bad defensively during his comeback so I can see him taking a beating. Bowe will also get hit. Will Bowe's chin hold up. I think it will, mainly because he won't be getting hit repeadedly. He will get hit by telegraphed single shots and I think his chin will hold up, unlike Moorer's. Bowe is not going to be kod by a single shot. Bowe by late rounds tko.
