Bowe Vs Golota - Why Didn't Bowe Foul Back?

maybe because, just like a bully that has been stood up to and humiliated, they fold? btw, very timely thread as golota turned 56 today!

 

Because not fouling back, was literally the only thing that won him the fights?

I'll never forget Bowe's fight with Pierre Coetzer that ended with Bowe throwing combinations to Coetzer's groin and with Coetzer's hands down in front of his groin desperately trying to block these low blows. The referee stepped in and waved it all off in favour of the house fighter. When Golota landed his blows low, it was a completely different story as Bowe was still the house fighter.

 

I'm surprised he didn't really, cos Bowe had a bit of a temper on him.
As it's been mentioned, he did throw a few low ones himself at times, so he was no saint.

 

I agree. Bowe was a tough guy bully in other fights but not against Golota. When he fought Elijah Tillery, Bowe went right after him and so did his manager Rock Newman. I think Bowe was intimidated of Golota.

 

It's a good question, I think in the first fight he was being outboxed and he knew getting a dq was his only way of winning. In the second fight Bowe had Golota down in the 3rd round, I think he would have stopped Golota then or later in the fight, but he came in at a weight drained 235 lbs, his body looked awful, and I think he just didn't have the stamina after the 3rd round. He took an awful shellacking the remainder of the fight and showed a ton of heart. If Bowe came in about 10 lbs heavier-245, I think he would have caused Golota to quit, Golota looked like he was almost ready to, leaning his head on ref Eddie Cotton after getting up.

Happy Birthday to Golota, Fold? (He won twice though ) he was out-thought but didn't stop fighting.

 

Bowe did sneaky foul in the rematch. He head butted Golota and Golota got caught retaliating with a head butt of his own. It was sneaky and low key by Bowe must of learned it from Holyfield
