I've just watched the highlights of both bouts and these fights are as good as any in the history of the sport, it's a shame they ended the way they did but boy did they put in a performance, those kinda fights are real career enders.

They were excellent fights for sure, though I personally believe the ref was a bit negligent in the second fight...Bowe took way too much of a pounding and that fight should have been stopped rounds before.

Yep, most refs would have stopped him, he's payed a high price for the wars he was in.

The first 4 rounds of Bowe vs Golota 2, are arguably the best 4 rounds you'll ever see in Heavyweight fight. It's a pity Bowe was badly weight drained, and didn't really have much to offer after 4th round. Apart from showing tremendous courage to survive the beating from Golota for the next 5 rounds.

Arguably the fight could of been stopped in the 2nd round, I've said this before but no way should a Heavyweight, be taking 70+ punches from a 240+ Heavyweight in a single round like Bowe did. That's just plain wrong, and that's where I draw the line between enjoying a slugfest and straight up savagery which that was.

They were exciting fights but also somewhat sad for fans of Bowe. He was nothing like the fighter he once was. Zero defense, sloppy and slow. Prime Bowe would have went right through Golota. I'll never forget seeing Bowe live as an amateur. His speed and agility for a man that size was amazing when he was a kid. Those fights with Holyfield really took a toll on him and he was never the same.

Weight drained? Where did you get that from? He weighed the same against Holyfield in 1992, which many consider to be his prime form.

Yes he weighed the same as he did vs Holyfield 1st time, but the difference is he lost 50 pounds in 8 weeks for rematch vs Golota. Which is a ridiculous amount of weight too lose in such a short time, and just compare how Bowe looked vs Holyfield, and then compare how he looked vs Golota 2nd time, Bowe looked weak vs Golota.

Bowe paid too heavy of a price for measly DQ wins that are considered losses anyway.

I believe the ref was just as negligent letting the low blows slide.

Good point didnt know that! You are right this sudden weight loss most likely impacted his performance.

Absolutely. Horrible refereeing, and it amazes me this didn't become a major issue after the fight.

I believe the same ref from the second fight is the one who let the Lewis/Tyson fight go on a bit too long as well. Just my opinion.
