It depends which Bowe turns up. I'm a big fan of his, but all his legacy is reliant on one fight: Holyfield I. On that night, he beats Haye easily. He also knocks out Wlad before 5 and stops Vitali late. I think all three could beat the Bowe who often turned up, unmovitated and lacking desire. Bowe was a top 10 heavy at his best. Possibly top 5.
Second that... the man couldn't KO a simple journeyman (Pukall) who was KO1'd in 2 of his last 3 bouts back in 2008. How would the current Bowe beat a beltholder, even if he's chinny. But it's about the prime Bowe and then Haye has a punchers chance at most. Bowe would win 9 out of 10 times. And for the Hide example... like I said before, I rate a prime Hide over a prime Haye on sheer punching power alone. For the rest they look a carbon copy of eachother with the difference Hide beïng a lot more likable.
None of those guys, save Golota, are as skilled as Haye, and Golota had even less ring intelligence than Bowe. Haye also has much faster hands than Golota. I should've said that Bowe avoided big punchers with speed and skill. Tyson and Lewis would've wiped the floor with him and he knew it. Bowe was supremely skilled but he lacked the intangibles that make a great fighter, not that Haye is an ATG or anything but he would have a very good chance of beating Bowe.
Excuse me, but the argument that Bowe was great in exactly one fight defeats the idea that this version of Bowe is top 5 - 10 and that he beats the Klitschkos. He was great in one fight against a smaller fighter who fought with the worst possible strategy against a bigger man. Holyfield will always be rightfully admired for his heart in this fight, this should not distract from the fact that he didn't fight smart. The Klitschkos would never allow Bowe's inside fighting ability to be a factor, they would use their control of range and straight punching (which Bowe can't match, he could't throw a straight punch if his life depended on it). Bowe never proved himself agains big, skilled fighters and certainly never against a very big puncher.
the problem is that haye would never get into the ring with prime Bowe infact he wouldn't even go and stare infont of Bowe at moving starway as he used to stare infront of Wladimir and make fun of his accent [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnOANul82Tw[/ame] because he knew that bowe would do this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5LxagKJ1PA[/ame] and knock out haye twice :yep once before and during the fight
Sorry but I rate quite a few of Bowe's opponents as 'big punchers' and some even as 'very big punchers', certainly bigger punchers than Haye. rapidfire put on a little list for you. :good
Golota was an Olympic medalist and had an extensive and successful amateur record. In the ring he was beating up grown men age 13. When he came to the US he was discovered almost immediately at the Windy City Gym in Chicago. The owner of that gym said the guy was a blue chip.
You may be right. I say this fight is like 60:40 for Bowe. He had chin, endurance and would hang in there until he's like dead - no one can take that away from him. Haye being fast, powerful and smarter than Bowe has a good chance though. Ps. Bowe is such a son of a ***** for doing that (the second vid)
Haye would **** his pants at the thought of having to be in the same town as Bowe. If Haye steps up.... Bowe KO1.
