In this article Lewis says he would have slapped Bowe during the weigh-in of Fury v Wilder https://www.complex.com/sports/2019/05/lennox-lewis-might-slap-riddick-bowe INDEED LOOK AT WHAT HAPPEN FROM TIME 4:02 WHEN THEY ARE PUT NEXT TO EACH OTHER FOR A PHOTO This content is protected One thing is certain: theres no love lost between the two. Who's right for you?
Lennox Lewis today probably would have beaten the Bowe of 15 years ago. He's a totally broken and damaged man.
I don't know who would have won during their primes, but Lennox Lewis sure as hell would KO this Riddick Bowe, who looks like one of those poor neglected street dogs. No wonder Lennox Lewis is laughing.
I dont know either who would have won in their primes but this morning I was reading a recent poll which gathered the opinions of fans, fighters and boxing journalists which reported Bowe would have knocked Lewis out around the 8th. However the question mark still remains imo.
Lewis, which is why Bowe chickened out of a pre-arranged fight. Also why Lewis stopped Bowe in the amateurs.
Was it Rock Neuman who dissuaded Bowe from the Lewis fight after he whupped Ruddock? Never got the whole story.
The poll I was reading said if the fight between the two had happened in a specific period thats to say on February 1993 Bowe would have won.
The fact is they did fight. In an Olympic final no less. That counts as far as I'm concerned. It was up to the guy who got beat (stopped actually) to chase the rematch but he didn't want to. It would have been a very easy fight to make had they both wanted it but one of them didn't. Worst duck-job by any fighter in my time following the sport.
To be fair that 'stoppage' was a typical ref amateur stoppage with no knockdowns and 2 dubious standing 8's before it was waved off. I still think Lewis would have won but Bowe certainly had more than enough artillery to blitz LL and more than enough size/talent/skill to beat him too.
Bowe is a total bum,1 of the biggest wastes of talent i've seen. People talk about the poor quality of Wilder and Joshuas title defences but outside of beating Holyfield, Bowes career and brief title reign was as weak and forgettable as any,as he clung to the title fighting old journeyman who had no business near a title fight. Bowe is probably more remembered for 1 of the biggest ducks of any champion, dumping 1 of his titles in the trash rather then take his whooping from top contender Lewis.
