I think it depends on when the fight actually happens. If it happened in 1993 when it was first proposed and before Bowe threw the belt in the trash then I say Bowe wins. if it were to happen 1996 onwards then It's all Lewis by KO. Bowe was really sharp back then, Lewis was still finding himself sort of. I don't think Lennox would have been ready.
I do think Bowe was obviously less suspectible to a one punch ko, so he would always have a punchers chance. It would be a great fight though Its a shame it never happened. They were the two best fighters above 6'5, they were strong and could box well. Its a real shame it never happened. I'll take Lewis to win anyway as i think he was mentally stronger with a better defense.
if, as others have said, the fight happens early ninties, bowe is too much for lennox, the better boxer in the pro ring, better in fighter, just better...yet if the fight happend later lewis takes it....the best bowe, the 'prime' bowe, was a beast and had huge heart..that was even evident in the brutalising golota fights
Since when do consumate technicians get outboxed by old Tony Tubbs and have wide open defenses getting tagged left right and centre?
:goodYey at that time i think Bowe would have kod the still improving Lewis. Bowe peaked sooner and also burnt out right after. Although Lewis had the longer career and higher all time ranking, HTH for a short period of time Bowe kos Lewis:bbb:dead
i dont hink bowe was a consumate 'boxer' but he seemed to have more innate 'fighting' ability than the more technical, less fluid lewis....this was a plus, and minus point for bowe..when the fight fell into a brawling type give and take battle, his size, in fighting and undoubted power helped, when involved in pure boxing matches, he COULD compete, just 9 times out of 10 he chose not to and return to his default setting which was lazy, scrappy brawling.....i really rate bowe, particulalry in a h to h list, but his acievements will always be tarnished by his innability to stay in shape, his rapid decline and his lack of a career defining fight with nemesis lewis..(the victorys over holy not withstanding, this would have been THE fight to put the stamp on his claims as a legit toip ten fighter)
Prime for prime i would say Lewis wins a by KO / TKO. I think he tries for the UD but Bowe manages to put some pressure and Lewis turns into a monster under pressure his jab and big right would be landing all night ans Bowe up and down head movement would be perfect for the upercut of Leiws. If they met in 93 the fight should be so close or slightly in favour of Bowe. Bowe was scared of Lewis tough and i think this would prove to be his downfall with Lewis taking a mid round stoppage.
:rofl:rofl 03? in his prime, lmao in 2003 was his last fight. . he was much faster when he was in his 20s, his natural weight was 220-230 pounds, not 245. he weighed 245 because he trained weights like a madman in his 30s. no fighter is in his prime in his late 30s. prime lewis was in his 20s
1. Yes, I had it a draw when I watched it to be fair, but Tubbs exposed him a bit 2. No chance, Bowe missed most of his punches and Tubbs couldn't miss him. Credit to Tubbs to be fair, quality performance
