Malik Scott fought and defeated Bowie Tupuo, quite easily if you go by what he says. Now is Bowie Tupou a legit Heavy or is he basically a journeyman, I personally had never heard of him before.
terrible choice of opponent for him basically. bowie still very raw, scott a terrific boxer. must have the same matchmaker as alex leapai, who fought johnson. scott and johnson probably been boxing since they were 6 or 7yo.
Glad you think Scott is legit Buster. I hit Deontay up today to let Scott know Mark is keen. This content is protected
Deontay and his trainer are keen, put Mark's name to Goldenboy. Goldenboy are focused on someone else at the moment, but Mark still on the list. This is no secret behind the scenes info, it's all open info on twitter. As per usual, the fighters want it, getting the promoters to agree is another story. Mark isn't Goldenboys first choice no, but hopefully if other stuff doesn't work out, it will still happen.
It was weird how Tupou just disappeared off the radar...I can't believe it's actually been 6 years since he left Australia to fight in the US, and he doesn't seem to have made any waves over there these past 6 years. Didn't he leave Johnny Lewis to pursue a career in the US? Maybe the likes of De Mori etc. have got it right insofar as staying in Australia and milking the public?
How do Mitchell, Jennings or Wilder go against Scott ? In the fight the commentator mentioned that the Americans are desperate for a Heavyweight champ and here they have a fighter whos 35-0 and no one cares. Padded much ? I wasnt aware anyone knew who De Mori was haha.
padded hard that was one of his best wins if not the best win hes had., Hes got some skills but no real nuts to get in and fight like a dog. Bowie looked pretty bad with no real ideas in that one.
There's no question the Yanks are desperate for a heavyweight champion. Extremely desperate. But they are also realistic enough to know Deontay Wilder is being progressed with kidgloves and has not beaten anyone of note to date.
I hadn't seen Scott before. Think he's much more of talent than Wilder and a much tougher fight. Why get in a fight like a dog, when you don't have to and it's not your strength? Scott will look great against any 'walk forward' slugger.
he's been going fine till last fight. maybe dropped off your radar, but plenty in the usa r aware of him. for somebody who didn't start boxing till he was 25, it was a terrible choice of opponent imo.
Scott DEFINITELY beats Wilder. The fact that Wilder is talked about so much more than Scott sums up everything that is wrong with US HW fans. Scott absolutely schooled Tupou, it was a one-sided, ruthlessly efficient beatdown of a guy ranked #53 on Boxrec. Instead, we have technically sloppy one-trick ponies like Wilder and Abdusalamov being hyped constantly over on the general. :-(
