In Boxing News it says that Cleverly vs Bellew will be shown for free and it will be followed by Hopkins vs Dawson. They are in talks with Goldenboy and TopRank to show there back catalogue and the Buncey show is back. Will be working with other promoters to bring fights from around the world Will be available on Virgin media, Commentary team Bunce and Rawling with Rosenthal in studio. 3 year deal with Sauerland Going to show Amateur boxing Maybe MMA and looking at UFC Stations CEO is Simon Green who was general manager at Setanta. Free to air to start but later in the year it goes to £10 per month. ****** is seeing out his Sky deal which is thought to end next year.
You reckon? Depends what they get which Sky wouldn't have. Less and less value for people who buy Sky Sports packages for boxing though.
To early to say for sure but it'll probably suit me. I'd rather pay a tenner for more boxing than pay Sky £80 for all sorts of shite.
All I see is Sky's boxing programmes spreading between Sky, a PPV channel and a subscription channel.
The CEO is a guy who worked for Setanta ****** is a part shareholder They will also stream stuff online (I know a few people wanted this) Sauerland deal starts with Huck and Kessler's next fights
I think it all depends on how many international shows they put on. If they pick up fights by the likes of Donaire, Gamboa, Lopez etc. The fights Sky don't seem to be interested in then it would be a welcome addition.
A big problem I can see them having is that Sky Sports News plays such a big part in "advertising" fights to general sports fans that the general profile of the sport may suffer amongst non-hardcore fans.
presser will be streamed here http://www.frank******.tv/index.php/news/fwtv-news/latest-news/1379-live-from-o2-indigo-press-conference.html
That's it, we need guaranteed live US boxing. If they're just picking up the odd card here and there it's not really worth it.
