Even if they get their 100,000 subscribers (which I have my doubts about), that's still limiting your audience to just 100,000 people. The more shows that get signed up to this, the less exposure Boxing has in the UK. I thought we were moving in the right direction a few months back when Sky were showing more of the US and German cards again. Now, even a lot of the best domestic fighters are going to disappear into the ether. Sigh
Just what I was thinking. They should plenty of pro-wrestling and MMA but the ratings were really low (so advertising revenues were low) as the people that watch WWE and UFC were not interested in a lesser product. 100,000 subscribers with just boxing to offer. I think thats a big ask to be honest. I dont see how FW thinks in the long term this is good for his stable considering how liimited the exposure will be?
I can very much picture that in the near future. Frank will supply his leg in the UK and put Khan on in the US. This will probably be his first PPV next year sometime (if they ever make a deal, that is) Frank's either made a genius move or a very stupid one. From what it sounds like right now, it's very interesting.
So matchroom boys will be with Sky and I guess Maloneys too. Perhaps Sky will try get Fury on there side too? They still have a good stable to play with. I also have a sneaky feeling Khan and Sky patching it up very soon. Primetime wont last IMO
But it can hardly compete with skysports who have all the major sports deals and dont look like losing them. Its great I think. I think sky will get back to PPV sooner and few shows here and there. Matchroom are building a great stable for sky boxing.
