Yeah. At a time when WWE wrestling was still getting 400,000 viewers on Sky it couldn't get good enough ratings to stay afloat, and it was free. Then they revamped in to include alot of MMA, supposedly the new big thing, and it made no difference. Sky sports regular fight nights are getting between 100-150,000 viewers, so he's going to have to perseude the majority of them to pay to get the subscriber levels mentioned here.
Neither does Sky really though, the only thing that attracts casuals are big PPV events like Haye/Wlad and Hatton/Mayweather or fights on terrestrial TV. Fury is only channel 5 (for how long i've no idea) and there isn't really a Haye/Hatton star on the horizon. It was interesting to hear them say there are 5,000,000 boxing fans in the UK. I think that is a bit of an over-estimate.
Not really, he doesn't need the viewers - he needs the subscribers. Wouldn't surprise me if you have to 'sign up' for free BoxNation prior to Bellew/Cleverly including giving your bank details. That way they hope people will just leave it registered and have their money every month.
I think this is great news. Having Bunce back on TV every week is going to be cool. It's going to be interesting to see what Primetime do now. I know they've had a few free to air events in the past which makes me think they might try and steal some of the attention away from FW with one or two in the coming months.
I'm going to have to spend another £10 per month but if it is stacked EVERY SINGLE ****ING DAY then I'm on board. I expect to see countdowns, training, magazine show, the lot! I don't think PPVs on top make any sense. I sincerely hope it is in HD but I have a bad feeling it won't be. Any sporting event that isn't in HD is already a **** start. I also hope that production will be to a high standard.
I didnt like the idea of it at first but after reading up on this it looks a very good ****in channel. If I manage to get a job I'll get it in.
