He does get a bit carried away but I would rather him to Jim Watt, Duke McKenzie or Wayne McCullough. :good
I agree. But it sounds promising. If we r having boxing on every week, 2.50 ain't bad. Pretty much what I pay for Boxing News
If they can get 2 American/Mexican cards and 2 British cards (all of decent standard) packed in with some novice cards and a lot of back catalogue material then it could be good. Im gonna see how it goes in the free period and then give it a few months after that before subscribing as I don't want to fall foir the trap that they put excellent shows on when its free and once everyone has subscribed it takes a severe dip in form. Worth keeping an eye on though. Hopefully they won't be all biased towards VVarren also.
If they picked up a lot of HBO/Showtime cards it would be excellent. ESPN FNF's, Saturday Fight Night on Sky then American card every week on TV.
There's no may about it, it will reduce the profile of the sport further. Going from free TV to Sky put boxing as a niche sport with the odd big star (who, Hatton aside, got a massive profile boost from regular tv, Calzaghe, Khan, Harrison being the obvious ones) now for it to go to a subscription channel with a subscription network it'll hurt further. Hopefully Sky will keep up the coverage from other promoters, thankfully ****** isn't as big a part of the British boxing scene as he was a few years ago.
Fantastic news, i thought it would just be Fwank and his sons. £10 a month if they gets deals with golden boy and top rank will be worth it!
I remember all them threads a few years back talking about Boxing having it's own channel etc. Well by sounds this is pretty near the mark and i'd be happy to pay £10 for it a month but i got freeview so looks like they won't have a platform for it..
One of the other bad things about it is that the cost to watch sport these days is getting silly: Sky Sports package: £20 Premier: £6 Box Nation: £10 Primetime: £15 - I believe they will eventually try and put on a PPV every month ESPN: £10? - not sure as I don't subscribe This is beofre even considering how much people pay for their Sky/Virgin packages. Obviously something is going to have to give in the near future.
:deal You have to wonder if VVarren's seen GBP little fallout with Sky over Khan and thought i could nip in here and get there shows to knock up the appeal of the channel. If Boxnation had the Top Rank and GBP shows then Sky would be really screwed. Just relying on Matchroom's stars for big nights of boxing.
I go on and on about it, but I really hope they have internet streaming and on-demand services. I'm away from home a lot now, so it would be fantastic to have the flexibility to log in elsewhere.
