Ugh, did I really just admit to being fired up for a ladies' fight? :-(

 

Round 4

Montes de Oca is keeping this a quiet session, meaning he is keeping Ruiz's successes to a minimum. Montes de Oca is dribbling his long jab off Ruiz's snout while tiptoeing around him, turning him like a pig on a roast spit. Occasionally he will rush forward and fire a body combination before quickly withdrawing before Ruiz can find him with a belated counter. Ruiz just a step behind.

I believe you, Beast - and you have the GIF clips to back it up - but tonight Montes de Oca is definitely not playing the grinder. He's actually boxing very nicely...and it seems Ruiz is the one that wants to get this near the ropes.

 

Round 5

Montes de Oca is tossing light jabs in bunches in between Ruiz's fists, and then changing it up with a few long slapping hooks while trotting past him. Ruiz can't establish a rhythm, and tries punching with Montes de Oca but can't see where he's aiming with the left hand of the latter always in his line of sight.

Montes de Oca is dancing around but his legs are losing a bit of their surety, with the occasional stumble or quiver as he makes his tireless retreat and plays hit-and-run. Patient stalking by Ruiz, who tries a few rights but only grazes. Finally he steps through with a left hook as Montes de Oca is throwing a combination with his feet planted in less than firm stance, and hits paydirt. Montes de Oca down. Flash, but counts. Bell.

Montes de Oca is flat-out running away from Ruiz now, barely countering anymore. Montes de Oca does try a few double-jabbing sorties dashing in, keeping his right glove up by his chin to intercept oncoming fire, but he isn't scoring with the jab. Ruiz is stalking and picking his spots, mixing in some downstairs.

Montes de Oca is doubling his jab and slashing up close with downward-cast combinations. Ruiz is loading up on lead rights and following with stiff power-jabs or left upper-hooks chasing Montes de Oca out of the pocket. Ruiz is sneaking a few left under the right forearm of Montes de Oca and grazing his belly. Ruiz is jabbing into Montes de Oca's mitts and then jerking back as Montes de Oca throws a counter 1-2, only half committing to it and not landing.

Round 9

Montes de Oca is running in and hooking the right hip of Ruiz, then bouncing away. Ruiz is timing Montes de Oca on the way in and catching him with a lean-away left hook. Ruiz slices a high hook over the head of Montes de Oca as the latter ducks forward with a looping right on the body, missing. Ruiz continues to be the aggressor, but Montes de Oca is, while tiring, careful not to give him many chances.

Round 10

Montes de Oca is tripling his jab now, having caught a second wind. Ruiz is turning his right forearm horizontally and thrust outward like a shield to catch the jabs. Ruiz tucks his elbows in tight as Montes de Oca tries digging with some uppercut salvos with both hands leaning in tight. Ruiz is hopping in place, taking stabs at Montes de Oca with the single right hand lead or stiff jab but not making a point to stay inside. NICE counter right on the jaw by Ruiz as Montes de Oca tried ducking in to land on the body.
