Round 1

Left jabs by Serrano driving in with confident steps. Right jabs and hooks by Martinez, fumbling around the back of Serrano's head but unable to find purchase on a target. Lots of clinching.

10-9 Serrano

 

Round 2

Serrano is darting in, scoring with left jabs to the body and waving the right hand up in Martinez's face. Martinez is missing right hooks or embedding them in Serrano's ear and then swallowing the shorter man into a bear hug while laying back against the ropes. Serrano hits the body and puts up a high guard stepping out. Lots of clasping, both men taking advantage of the lull to catch their breath until a break is called.

Round 3

Serrano is drumming on the body of Martinez, who pinches his wrists against the sides of Serrano's neck and pulls him in close while laying back on the ropes. Serrano swats hooks at the taller man's head while stiff-arming him in place against the ropes. Big right hand by Martinez, briefly stuns Serrano! Martinez doesn't follow up. Serrano circles and jabs. A feint gets Serrano inside, where he encircles Martinez's waist and waits for the break. The ref is saying "Let him go, Charlie". Martinez tries hacking with his free arm downstairs on the next clinch, but Serrano is spinning them in such a way that Martinez can't plant anything on him.

10-9 Serrano but not much in it.

30-27 Serrano

 

Round 4

Serrano is diving in and dusting the body of Martinez with the sides of his fists, then holding. Martinez is waiting, tensely coiled but not throwing anything back until they are tied up and then love taps downstairs. Very inactive round.

Round 5

Serrano is pushing Martinez back with exaggerated 1-2 fakes and strong jabs while ducking and undulating on the way in. Martinez backs up, holding both arms out cautiously to prepare for timely pushes and then folding them up against his long body when Serrano presses in. Lots and lots of clinching. Short taps above the waist by Martinez. Serrano drops a right hand into the side of his neck. Martinez circles to his left and puts out a flimsy right jab. Serrano rushes in and throws a high combination, and Martinez cowers back into the corner with his arms stretched out in a web, shutting his eyes in an expectant wince.

Round 6

Serrano is hauling Martinez bodily to the ropes, burying hooks in his sides as Martinez tickles him with right hooks on the cheek. Martinez starts to lean forward and yo-yo back into the ropes, essentially bouncing like a pinball between them and Serrano. It effectively nullifies the action. Nobody is landing any punches, although both are flapping wildly.

Round 7

Serrano is pushing the jab out from a distance, letting his momentum drag him in with it like a sail in the wind. Martinez is plodding to his left, crossing his feet over, facing up to Serrano and waiting to grab him and pull him close to work body taps and wild bowstring uppercuts. Serrano jumps in with a combo aimed between Martinez's eyes, but is yanked from the air, set down on his feet, and hugged. Wild left uppercut and right hook by Martinez taking a step back and covering his retreat, missing.

Round 8

Serrano is hurtling forward with jabs and superman rights. Martinez scoots into the ropes, bounces his back off them, and uses his long arms to envelop Serrano. Serrano throws a jab, pulls it halfway there, and fires a hard right charging in - but Martinez doesn't fall for the trick again and takes a quick step back before darting in to grab. Serrano is setting up a high left jab when he sees an opening on Martinez's body - but instead of hitting it he dives in and initiates a clinch himself, while Martinez misses a pair of right hooks over his head. Double jab into the air by Serrano. Martinez flicks a few soft right jabs, and then curls into a ball and shrinks away when Serrano makes a threatening motion as though about to come forward.

Round 9

Serrano is leading with brazenly telegraphed rights from the hip and parlaying them into buck-wild combinations of straights lunging up at Martinez's head. Martinez flees to the ropes, scratches his back on them, and circles Serrano with a meek right jab popping out from a tight guard.

Round 10

Serrano is throwing jabs and big right hands boldly no matter his distance or angle. Martinez is touching him with the right jab and hook, but not deterring him. Left uppercut with the free hand by Martinez as they wrestle. Serrano bashes down with both hands on Martinez's clavicles as the taller man leans down and into him.

Round 11

Serrano is circling left and throwing his jab away, looking down at his feet while casting it off. Martinez isn't capitalizing, just floating in like driftwood and bumping into Serrano, holding. Lots of breaks initiated by the ref, and he warns Martinez for hitting behind the head while holding. Serrano is bouncing on his toes, looking fresher despite having a mouse and some blood under his left eye. Martinez moves in and lands a right hook and left uppercut pushing Serrano to the ropes. They friction out of a clinch and Martinez lands another combination.
