    Round 8

Carmona is pushing his jab into Garcia's face at full extension, using his quick feet to stay outside. Carmona is diving in and grabbing whenever Garcia cuts the ring off. Garcia keeps trying, letting his hands go as he comes forward and mostly missing and getting grabbed but occasionally making Carmona quake in place and have to steady himself. Stiff jabs by Garcia. Slapping double hook by Carmona moving left, knocking a Garcia jab out of the air in the process but not landing. Carmona darts in and out, touching the body, holding and springing back outside, bouncing his back off the ropes and starting over. Right and left uppercuts to the body by Carmona falling in. Double right hand by Garcia, knocking Carmona back into the ropes.

    10-9 Carmona, very close round.

79-72 Carmona but a closer scorecard by as many as 2-3 points' difference is definitely acceptable. No case to be made for Tostado ahead now, though...or within realistic grasp of better than a draw.

    Round 9

Carmona is jabbing high and curling in rights to the body. Garcia is walking forward and feeding jabs out of his high guard, mostly to give Carmona something to think about while Garcia loads up on chopping rights. Garcia is really committed to landing that big game-changing head shot with his right hand, even though it's completely predictable by now for Carmona and he seems to have Garcia totally figured out with his adjustments, very comfortable in the dive-underneath-and-grab strategy. Not in the least discouraged, Garcia keeps tossing and does occasionally crack one nicely upside Carmona's head.

    10-9 Carmona

    89-81 Carmona

    Round 10

Carmona is backing up and throwing away loose jabs and hooks into the air, no rhyme or reason to them, all just for show in between diving clinches. Garcia is arm weary but putting straight combinations together, sucking wind in between. Double jab by Garcia backs Carmona up. Combinations by Garcia including some wide hooks downstairs, missing as Carmona scoots backward. High jabs and rights to the body by Carmona on the back-foot, mostly not connecting. Garcia moves in with a chopping right and gets clinched. Slapping left hook up top by Carmona, blocked on Garcia's right arm. Uppercuts by both men in the clinch. Body shot by Garcia, just nicking Carmona with his fist grazing atop his trunks. Very nice exchange in the final ten seconds, Carmona landing a right hand and left hook as Garcia is loading up. Another right hand by Carmona after Garcia sets his feet and looks for one more big punch of his own.

10-9 Garcia even though he got rocked in the final moments...Carmona spent two minutes and change very shy and negative...

    98-91 Carmona

Big city kid David "Severo (Severe)" Camona improves to 16-1 (8.) and retains his belt.

Rural villager Antonio "Tostado (fried tortilla sandwich)" Garcia falls to 11-1 (5) but acquitted himself well and could justifiably rematch Carmona for another stab at that belt in the very near future.
