    Round 6

Quijano is jabbing up, squatting low in front of Rubillar. Long right hook attempted by Rubillar, gambling. Quijano makes him pay, landing jabs, jabs, jabs and more jabs to the profusely sweating forehead of the man from the East. Lots of near head clashes as Rubillar rushes in on Quijano as he swoops and flops around, bending and unbending quickly while moving his feet. Rubillar is trying to land a right jab but finding Quijano very slippery. Body shots and sneaky left hooks to the head by Quijano from outside. Nice right to the belt line by Quijano while turning Rubillar. Quijano is goading Rubillar with lazy jabs and then catching him with left hooks and long right hands when Rubillar takes the bait and lunges.

    10-9 Quijano

    58-56

Just For Men card still = IB card.

    Every round has been clear.

Rubillar won the two where he hurt Quijano, and has been outfoxed & outboxed in the rest.

    Round 7

Rubillar is walking into long whipping left hooks to the temple now. Quijano just backs up and wings out his left wide, and is scoring at will. Rubillar seems desperate, throwing haymakers and uppercuts on the inward step, but is throwing with big power. Hoping for a bailout punch. Quijano is caught circling past him, clipped by a right hook! Could be the opening Rubillar needs! He is unable to close the distance as Quijano circles into the ropes, bounces off them, and keeps moving. Rubillar closes in, lands another, but it's deflected with Quijano's arm in the way and less damaging. Quijano keeps circling, right glove cocked up under his chin to help absorb impact from Rubillar's wild shots, and hooking on the backfoot. Rubillar just marching after him, missing bombs.

    10-9 Quijano

    68-65 Quijano

Pathetic display by Quijano. Hurt Rubillar in the 3rd had a chance to finish him instead starts to get cocky. Now Rubillar is going to kick his ass.

    Round 8

Quijano is toying with Rubillar from outside, stepping quickly to the left and landing quick jabs and crosses to the top of the head. Rubillar is following and pawing his right jab from the hip, looking to conserve energy and set up his big power punches coming forward. Rubillar lunging in, leading with his head a bit. The heads clash, and Rubillar complains. He took the worst of it. The bridge of his nose hurts. He gets a break, about thirty seconds. Time in. Quijano hooks him in the head. Rubillar ducks down, throwing hard left hand spears to the body, leaving his head wide open. Quijano drills him with hooks. HARD LEFT TO THE BODY by Rubillar, physically forcing Quijano back several steps and almost ruining his balance. Quijano keeps backpedaling and hooking with his left. Rubillar lunges at him, more head clashes. The ref keeps asking both men if they're OK rather than pausing the action. Repeated accidental butts, due to styles.

    10-9 Quijano

    78-74 Quijano

    Round 9

Rubillar is charging in headfirst, almost trying to butt Quijano in the stomach or crotch. Quijano is backing up, using the whole ring, basically running. Hard flurry by Rubillar walking Quijano to the ropes, gob-smacking him with a right hook as he backs away from them with arms down. Another head clash as Quijano darts forward with a 1-2 to stem the Rubillar tide. Hooks low by Quijano while turning his cheek as Rubillar backs him against the ropes with his head down near waist level again. Rubillar is confusing Quijano, dropping very low and then coming up for air with quick flurries and right jabs. HARD LEFT CURVE by Rubillar from outside, just missing. HUGE power shots loaded up. Quijano looks scared, popping a quick light right hand from outside. Rubillar swings for the fences, putting maximum power into every shot.

    10-9 Rubillar

    87-84 Quijano

Oops, somewhere the Just For Men card diverged from mine. They've got it 86-85 Quijano.

    Round 10

Hard lefts by Rubillar coming forward. Quijano stretches his rangy left arm out and pecks with jabs on the back foot. Rubillar goes for the body, but Quijano is elusive on the outside. Quijano is turning his cheek whenever Rubillar throws head shots, effectively slipping them or reducing their impact but also momentarily blinding him to follow-up shots. Rubillar is hurrying after him, and Quijano is jumping straight out of the corners. As a result, numerous butts. OH!! Big cut opened on Rubiller's left eye from an accidental butt during an exchange of hooks as Rubillar was straightening his legs and Quijano bending over. Nasty cut, squirting all over. Working on it in the corner. Half a minute left in the round.

    Stopped! Quijano's arm raised.

WTF? Quijano wins TKO!?!? On a cut from an accidental headbutt??

That ...isn't supposed to happen in boxing. :blood

I mean, they used to have a stupid rule in the UK as recently as 2010 that if it ended within 4 rounds on an accidental foul it was a TKO win for the non-injured party rather than a No Contest as makes sense...but they've changed that.

WTF is with the Florida commission? How can they let this be a TKO??

Telemundo has shown the replay several times now. Clear accidental butt, opens up a spurter on Rubillar's face.

    Nevermind, it wasn't a TKO.

    Official cards:

    Mike Ross 96-94
    Peter Tramaterra 96-94
    Jan O'Connor 96-94

Unanimous TD win for Quijano. They screwed up by having the ref lift his arm before they did the card-reading ceremony, though. Sapped it of all its drama.

:rofl The arena DJ at the Civic Center played the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies theme after the decision was read, during Quijano's victory interview with Telemundo!

Man, those stands are EMPTY. :scaredas:

It looks like some tiny back room, not even the main part of the venue...and they sold out maybe a tenth of it. :!:

Seriously, there might have been three dozen people watching the main event of this card.
