This is for the WBA Fedecentro title at 126lbs, first defense of hard-hitting journeyman "El Martillo (The Hammer)" Contreras against unbeaten yet untested prospect "El Stich" Flores.

    Round 1

Flores is consistently slotting a nice down-jab into the breadbasket of the older man. Contreras pressuring but more with menacing lean-ins and posturing than punching, and none of the latter getting through.

10-9 Flores, nothing much of note occurring.

    Round 2

Contreras stepping up the pressure, lobbing double jabs and long shot-put rights alternately into the face and waistband of Flores and forcing him to flurry off the ropes. Flores sits down on and really turns over a few of those combinations' punctuating and knocks his pursuer back, albeit only momentarily. Wild lead rights sprayed up top by Contreras, then hooking at the abdomen while falling in with his own momentum, but Flores is hot-footing and countering with more accurate straights.

    10-9 Flores, close

    20-18 Flores

    Round 3

Flores drifts into the ropes, countering fluidly, and then opens up with a HUGE barrage as he feels consecutive blows thudding home unansnwered. Contreras shows off his bitchin' chin here, just soaking up maybe twenty bombs (he only has been stopped twice in 33 bouts, once by Emanuel Navarrete). A bit of a slow-burn table-turn over the next two minutes, as Contreras starts mugging Flores into the ropes, grinding into him with rough clinches, and slapping at his sides.

    10-9 Flores, again close

    30-27 Flores

    Round 4

Contreras is choosing his moment to strike, upping the pressure twofold now with unrelenting lead rights spammed at the head of Flores (very loose and poorly aimed but playing the percentages) and cuffing hooks that often see the inner forearm make cleaner impact than his knuckles, on the ribs and side of the head and occasionally deflecting elbows of Flores. Desperate counter uppercuts downstairs by Flores as he wriggles and writhes against the ropes before shimmying free out the side hatch. Contreras walks him down for the full three minutes and ignores flush jabs on the shnoz and mid-range uppers banging flat against the underside of his jaw. Flores clinching now as Contreras wades in whacking the body in wide arcs.

    10-9 Contreras

    39-37 Flores

    Round 5

Contreras picks up where he left off in the fourth, with the difference that now he is boxing southpaw. Left hand leads, then, playing chicken with Flores' moving head - and wide right hooks brought to bear on his undercarriage or arm clanging off his parietal lobe. Contreras reverts to his native orthodox and begins to land some HUGE two-pieces, right hands and jabs (sometimes reversing the order), jolting a now mostly defensless Flores badly & repeatedly. Only a matter of time now.

    10-9 Contreras

    48-47 Flores

    Round 6

Contreras thrusting angry, domineering jabs into the mush and sending Flores scrambling into a corner, where he whips him with machete rights. Flores already looking shaky as he makes to fortify his position and gets his feet slightly crossed, with Contreras barging in and finding him with hefty right hands. One spins Flores around, dumping him on the canvas where the ref briefly considers but then dispenses with a count not thirty seconds into the round.

    TKO6!!

Pretty good fight, actually. Idk why people sleep on Telemundo - probably the most consistently entertaining televised boxing program (even if more than half of their featured talents are guys - as tonight - where you'd probably never had any reason to have previously heard of them, and who aren't likely ever destined for a big PPV stage...but like, that's okay...) :nusenuse:

Like many of his Georgian and Armenian boxing brethren, "The Pitbull" is tough and determined, taking a beating to get his point across, down in the first round. Nice rally in R3, however (and I think he might have legitimately dropped Valentín in return in the second?) bouncing some leather off the brain-pan of a slightly punched-out Valentín. 28-27 Eranosyan.

Somebody's zero has got to go, btw - Eranosyan is 1-0 and the young boricua (mentored and promoted by Miguel Cotto) is 3-0.

Valentín quite tall for the division at 5'11" and will probably fill into a welterweight as he matures.
