Note: this is on about fifteen minute delay. Blame the late FNF start.

This is for the vacant Mexican flyweight title.

    Round 1

Jimenez is walking Rivera down and hammering down with big right hands over the top. Rivera is making himself a smaller target than his skinny frame already allows, twisting and dipping on the inside and taking advantage of the wide open counter opportunities that Jimenez offers with his bombing style. Nice 1-2 to the face by Rivera. Jimenez keeps coming forward and walks into a hook and another 1-2.

    10-9 Rivera

    Round 2

Jimenez is throwing some wide shots, missing to the head but drumming a few against Rivera's body as he leans in trying to hold briefly and push his way back out to safety. Jimenez keeps loading up on big power shots, mostly uppercuts. Rivera circles back out of the way as Jimenez slams his body jumping in after him. Jimenez keeps stalking.

    10-9 Jimenez

    19-19

    Round 3

Jimenez is winging huge shots as wide as can be, backing Rivera up across the ring and almost pitching forward off balance with the force of his own throws. Rivera is looking to counter but every time he plants his feet Jimenez is there dropping nukes on him. Rivera starts punching with Jimenez on his way out of the pocket and both are landing hard, with Rivera causing a nosebleed on Jimenez even as his internal organs are liquified by Jimenez's body shots.

    29-28 Jimenez

    Round 4

Jimenez is still throwing everything with bad intentions, but slowing down a bit. Rivera dances back and resets every time he dodges, flicking out a jab to the body. Left hook to the body and a double hooking right to the face by Jimenez!! Big water-dragging uppercuts by Jimenez on the way in. Power being blasted all over Rivera as he moves in to clinch. Uppercut on the inside by Jimenez. Rivera tries to grab but there is just too much arm in the way as Jimenez keeps punching and punching, slow but steady and powerful

    10-9 Jimenez

    39-37 Jimenez

Also on this card: the continued comeback of "Pokemon"!! (AKA Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias, the poor outmatched fellow KTFO by Arthur Abraham when the German was rebounding from the Ward loss...)

    Round 5

Jimenez is throwing wild uppercuts, and keeping Rivera on the back foot. Jimenez is using very little in the way of technique, just going for broke letting his crushing fists fly. Rivera is gamely trying to lean in and counter where he can, nicking the body some, but every time Jimenez lands even partially it sends Rivera into full retreat.

    49-46 Jimenez

    Round 6

The pace slows as Rivera lingers well out of range, not letting Jimenez even close and beating it when he does. A reaching right hand by Rivera to discourage a Jimenez charge. Now a steady diet of jabs fed into Jimenez's parrying right glove. Rivera is delaying the inevitable. Jimenez keeps pushing forward throwing his wide slow deadly shots. Rivera doubles a soft hook into one side of his head and then corks a huge right hand into the other, putting everything into it. It gets a gasp out of the crowd and commentators but nary a bat of an eyelash from Jimenez.

    10-9 Rivera

    58-56 Jimenez

"Tarjeta Lamazon" (the unofficial scorecard of Telemundo) has the opposite of me; 58-56 Rivera.

They gave Jimenez the 4th and 5th but Rivera the first three. :think

    Round 7

Jimenez comes in behind a jab now, interesting. Rivera seems a bit thrown off by this and is circling into the ropes in erratic patterns, almost unsure what to do. Jimenez is hurling big right hands behind the jab. Rivera is taking long steps back but circling into his path to get off the ropes and Jimenez just slams in with his right hands. Head butts. Cuts caused by the clashes. Rivera cut worse, I think. Jimenez keeps lunging in with his rights. Earns a warning and then a point deduction.

    9-9

    67-65 Jimenez

    Round 8

Jimenez jabs into the guard of Rivera from outside, then whips a big wide uppercut and backs him up with it. Rivera dances back out of the way of a reaching right hand lead, then darts in to drop a jab and chopping right on Jimenez's mohawk. Flush right hand by Rivera. Jimenez keeps mowing his way in with big uppercuts that drag low along the way, very badly telegraphed. Rivera just backs up and swats them down, mostly deflecting them from his body.

    10-9 Rivera

    76-75 Jimenez

I think they have open scoring going? :huh Even though this isn't a WBC event, just a minor title that's naught to do with any of the major sanctioning bodies.

Anyway, someone over the PA just read what sounded like scorecards in Spanish but it was too muffled to make out. A few cheers went up. I'm not sure who's more "popular" between Jimenez and Rivera, so I couldn't tell you who the official scores had up. :conf If that's what that was.

    Round 9

Jimenez is now getting backed up, pushing his jab and hooking off of it but missing as Rivera comes forward and sharp shoots from his guard in a half-crouch. Rivera blocks the wild shots of Jimenez and backs him into a corner with flush right hand counters. Big looping right by Jimenez to the top of the head stops Rivera's momentum for a moment, but he's soon back at it snapping a jab into Jimenez's face.

    10-9 Rivera

    85-85

    Lamazon has it 86-84 Rivera.
