Ramirez is a decorated amateur, champ of the Armed Forces, here making his professional debut.

 

Round 1

Ramirez is throwing jabs to the chest of Torres and sending quick right hands sailing from just below his own chin to high on Torres' mullet-bearing scalp. Torres is jerking around, not quite coordinated defensively and certainly nothing resembling slick, but making Ramirez cautious by the sheer amount of movement involved. Ramirez is still managing to score from outside despite being shorter and not making too many sacrifices to get inside, just patiently jabbing the body and getting in those rights atop the business end of the mullet where he can.

Round 2

Torres is tying up and slapping Ramirez's body on the inside. Ramirez is jabbing and squaring up, waiting on Torres. Wild uppercut by Torres, caught on the forearm. Ramirez jabs and gets held. Body taps both ways. Torres backs off, using his strange head movement. Ramirez is still wary, giving Torres respect he might not warrant.

Round 3

Ramirez is jabbing and turning his full body in with straight right hand leads, backing Torres into a corner. Torres tries to slide his jab past Ramirez's punches but despite having the longer reach is unable to make a firm impression, not committing to his stuff with the same confident snap that Ramirez has. Torres is backed up to the ropes, pawing his jab. Ramirez presses his head into Torres' chest and flays his body with hooks. Torres squeaks his way by and trades light body shots with Ramirez while backing up.

Yeah, he's a tricky *******, not horrible education for a prospect and in fact maybe a bit too harsh a lesson in frustration for a debut.

 

Round 4

Ramirez is looking for the stoppage here, walking Torres down and jabbing from his tight guard, building into extended combinations with the right uppercut delivered from a deep knee bend and hooks turned over, all headhunting. Torres is turning his face side to side and rolling under whatever he can, keeping his back on the ropes and pawing his jab out at Ramirez when he comes up for air, mostly staying folded up like a lawn chair in winter. Slap hook by Torres stepping left, blocked. Ramirez is now barking as he throws combos, most of them missing or hitting Torres on the arms. Ramirez to his credit is still trying in the waning seconds although he is getting visibly arm weary and just about out of time.

This was Torres' third professional boxing match...all three in Florida, all three against debutant youths, and in all three he made it to round 4. (Albert Bell stopped him a minute into the 4th of Torres' own debut back in June...so Torres has improved to where he is only getting shut out)
