Victor Vega vs. Luis Olivares, 4 rounds @ welterweight

 

Round 1

Olivares flicks his left jab under the limp jackhammering right of the lanky southpaw. Body combos by Olivares shoveling his way into Vega's chest, and a couple of big chopping hooks thrown overhead into Vega's chin bring him tumbling down. Vega beats the count but Olivares is quick to dump more power on him. BIG shots ripped to the body, and more left hooks to the face. Vega backs to the ropes. BIG combo, left hook to the face and straight right to the belly. Vega crumbles to his knees, out.

KO1!!

 

Olivares is nice. He is now 2-0 (2).

He is twenty, but looks young enough to be in junior high school. (or, if you're Orlando Cruz - like jail-bait )

 

Angel Albelo vs. Adrian Perez, 4 rounds @ super featherweight

 

Round 1

Albelo runs to his right and swings an overhand left into Perez's chin as the Mexican charges in with straightaway blows. Albelo is landing counters while skirting around Perez on his toes, but also getting mauled and dragged into phonebooth brawls as his legs fail to carry him to safety in time after he's done unloading quick combos on the fly. They bang on the ropes and Albelo inches back out to center throwing a frenzy of quick punches while Perez clams up.

Round 2

Albelo is taking wide steps around to his right, jerking his upper body around but leaving his chin unprotected with his arms swinging low. Perez stalks. They trade big sloppy overhands, Albelo's left versus Perez's right. Both come up with near-misses as they collide. Flurry by Albelo, brushing the nape of Perez's neck as he bows forward and tries for body shots. They tangle and stumble around with their arms snagged, Perez trying to club Albelo in the back with his right hand and Albelo just trying to wrench free and flurry a bit where he can. Albelo circles right and pops jabs. Albelo turns orthodox and rocks Perez's face around with a 1-2 from outside.

Round 3

Albelo is strutting around jabbing. Perez tries to swipe low but gets pushed down upon and then held. Albelo carries Perez to the ropes, slapping him on the sides. Perez tries to bash with his free hand. They're trading up close. Albelo is warned to watch his head while leaning down on Perez. Another vicious two-way feed with only centimeters separating them.

10-9 Albelo but very tit-for-tat, that one could be Perez's.

Round 4

Perez comes out with a big dipper right hand. He spams it, pressing Albelo backward. Perez stays in his wheelhouse and curls shots into his abdomen while sending a few whistling over the top. Albelo clings to him, mostly just holding on and not countering much. Lots of clinches, but Perez is working through them, flapping down on Albelo and managing to keep at least one hand free at all times while the ref implores Albelo to let him go without much heed paid. Perez keeps waltzing Albelo around, hitting him high and low and even stuffing a forearm into his throat here and there. Rough stuff. Albelo lands a rabbit punch swarming back over Perez after a brief separation.

Leonardo Sanchez vs. Carlos Lacayo, 4 rounds @ featherweight

 

Round 1

Sanchez is throwing big overhand rights after hopping to either side trying to keep Lacayo off balance and rapping on the front door with his jab. Lacayo is blocking, turning, ducking the overhand right and landing his own left jab through the gaps. Lacayo stretches his left arm out, slow motion jabbing to preserve distance. Sanchez tries chucking an overhand right past Lacayo's jab but can't reach his target. Long whipping combo by Lacayo.

Round 2

Lacayo is ducking and navigating around Sanchez, making him miss with his overhands and hooks with quick outward leans or sidelong tilts. Light pot shots by Lacayo. Sanchez is putting hard combos together but just not making contact from outside, and not pressing the gas for long on the front foot before reverting to circling.

Round 3

Lacayo is dragged into a firefight as Sanchez puts the straight right on repeat. Lacayo is caught pulling back and then nailed through the middle. Sanchez is putting the power shots together more fluidly now and finding the mark. Left hook by Sanchez gets around Lacayo's guard from outside and causes him to dip slightly, which Sanchez pounces upon with clubbing rights. Lacayo is a bit wobbly. He puts up a left jab, ducking and rising from a couple of feet off. Sanchez patiently wades in with left hooks and sweeping right uppercuts, walking through Lacayo's jabs without concern. Sanchez keeps grinding away, and manages to hurt Lacayo with a flush jab. 1-2 and uppercut by Sanchez chasing Lacayo around, often in straight lines.
