    Round 9

Vazquez is using lots of movement now, channeling his countryman Ivan Calderon, gaseous and ethereal, staying just beyond Avila's reach. Jabs singled and doubled in with quick darting steps by Vazquez. Avila is looking to box now, strangely, jabbing from outside with his arms low and looking to time Vazquez when he darts in. Lunging rights by Avila missing. Heavy pressure by Avila, not catching Vazquez with the few KO hopefuls he is chucking. Lots of upper body reflexive based defense by Vazquez, along with fast busy feet, and it's working for him.

    10-9 Vazquez

    87-84 Vazquez

    Round 10

Vazquez lands jabs to the body swooping in, then gets outside in a hurry before Avila can think about countering. Vazquez is putting the jab wherever he wants it, stamping Avila on the face and tightly muscled abdomen with it in equal measure. Avila is still trying to jab with Vazquez, missing and not ever getting a chance to unleash his power shots as Vazquez keeps moving and springing up and down. Big overhand right by Vazquez.

    10-9 Vazquez

    97-93 Vazquez

    Round 11

Vazquez is moving and jabbing, popping up his shoulders as he goes and keeping his arms loose to jab and poke in rights to the body from outside. Vazquez isn't giving Avila entry into hooking range, staying a step ahead of him. Avila is still lunging a bit, albeit less, mostly just following and lowering his work rate by necessity so as to not waste energy on misses.

    10-9 Vazquez

    107-102 Vazquez

    Round 12

Vazquez is jabbing and trotting out near the ropes, not executing his turns as skillfully as before. Tired. Avila is getting close now, and throwing with more urgency. BIG hooks to the body by Avila, landing with either hand. Vazquez is even getting caught with head shots now as he backs up, though he is getting his gloves up in the way to partially block. Avila pressures, staying in front of Vazquez wherever he goes, lowering himself and then rising up tall over him. Vazquez is caught by a hook and nearly trapped on the ropes. Vazquez shuffles in either direction, trying hard to avoid the ropes. OH! Avila down, all of a sudden. Short counter hook thrown in desperation by Vazquez. The ref doesn't rule it a knockdown. It didn't seem a hard punch, just ever so lightly brushing Avila on the cheek as he missed a left hook of his own and lost his footing - but still, there was contact.

10-9 Avila (would've been 10-8 Vazquez had the ref called the knockdown, which honestly was a borderline call)

    116-112 Vazquez

Your score sounds about right from what I saw from the 3rd round or so onward.

Ryan Bivins from BadLeftHook (I think he posts here as Brickhaus? - or is he a different BLH contributor?) has it narrowly for Avila given the no-call in round 12, but says that saved it for him.

Didn't really keep score but 8-4 Vasquez sounds about right .

The rounds Avila won were tighter than the ones Vasquez clearly took, in general.
