It's a common saying in boxing, styles make fights. The saying in the title seems to be the general theme. Does anyone have examples of this triangle?

    Have:

Cotto beats Mosley (boxer beats puncher)
Mosley beats Margarito (puncher beats swarmer)
Margarito beats Cotto (swarmer beats boxer)

    Forrest beats Mosley
    Mosley beats Mayorga
    Mayorga beats Forrest

    Leonard beats Hearns
    Hearns beats Duran
    Duran beats Leonard

    Wright beats Mosley
    Mosley beats Vargas
    Vargas beats Wright

    Ali beats Foreman
    Foreman beats Frazier (Norton)
    Frazier (Norton) beats Ali

You don't think? Some are a bit shoehorned, I'd say he fits most into that role.

Nah, Duran was a boxer and an excellent counterpuncher. He could be aggressive if need be but not a "swarmer" IMHO.

Not sure I agree. He could box and had a punch, but I think he fits best into the swarmers role. He didn't really counterpunch Leonard as much as press the action.

    Starling (boxer) beats Honeyghan (swarmer)

What style is a 'puncher'? ;)

This, Duran could unleash all out aggression but was not a 'swarmer' by any means. He was the most complete fighter I've ever seen, though I can see how he could be moulded to fit the argument.

Scottrf; as always, a commendable effort, but I think the fact most fighters can't be pidgeon holed into a particular style is why it may be hard to find a conclusive answer.

I like what you've done though :good
