I can't believe a current HW boxing champ ( Toney ) called out a grappler in an attempt to prove boxing is better. Thats some weak $hit

Why not call out Overeem? If Toney stood with Overeem in MMA in a 'striking only' match, it ends quickly and violently and Toney would be face down, ass up RD 1

There is NO LIVING BOXER that could strike with Overeem for more than 5 mins and not leave on a stretcher

    MUAY THAI > BOXING

Seems like pugilists like to play patty cake with pillows for 12 rnd decisions versus eachother...or call out grapplers and challenge them "to stand and trade"

Muay Thai is the most violent and destructive striking art there is. They use shins, knees, elbows and fists. No ***** padding or pillows on the shin or knees. It's a real mans striking sport. Fights dont end in 12 rnd decisions, dudes leave on stretchers

$hit man...plenty of Muay Thai guys will stand and bang with ANY boxer alive today. Bring it on and step up.

Stop thinking your tough for calling out a grappler. It's weak and YOU KNOW IT

P.S. What happened in that fight anyways? LMAO :patsch

You got it love it when sherdog trolls who don't know **** about fighting **** themselves in the ass with their very first sentenvce.

Toney is NOT a champ at HW and has never been a champ at HW (ok he was a "champ" for a few days before he was stripped after the RUiz fight). The IBO strap that Toney holds is not a legit HW title recognizied by anybody. Only redneck UFC'ers like you fall for that Dana White crap.

Muay Thai is awesome, but boxing teaches superior punching, and punch avoidance. A pro boxer turned muay thai fighter would be far more deadly than a thai fighter turned pro boxer. This is proven by the fact that Thai muay thai fighters (who are better punchers) regularly kick the ass of European thai fighters (who are more kickboxing oriented).

    Hand skills always rule.

Now go back to sherdog, *****.

You dumb *******. What a terrible first post to make.

Toney is not a HW champ. He's not even top 10.

Close your account because you clearly don't know **** about boxing. Tell me this, punk ass? Is it more manly to stand through 12 rounds of physical punishment or to get KTFO by some roided up Gorilla like Overeem or have Werdum put his balls in your mouth in a submission? Get out.

Overeem would use the muay thai clinch and knee the hell out of James.

Why on earth would he want to take on Overeem in K1/Muay Thai rules though? It's nearly as bad a mismatch as Overeem calling out Toney for a boxing match.

Oh and by the way, had you known ANYTHING about James Toney.. you would of known he's not had a legitimate fight since 2007, one whom he arguably lost btw.. to a gatekeeper.

When I hear of superior "strikers" being in other sports to boxing I have to query a few points.

Why would a superior striker to boxers, not compete in the sport that is alot more financially rich than any other combat sport.

Ask yourself this question. If you knew you could KO all the welterweight boxers out there, why wouldn't you move to boxing knowing you could get sooo much more money by doing so? I'll tell you why, bc no other "strikers" can stand with good boxers for more than a few rounds. It is this simple.

The best athletes are attracted to boxing bc of the financial reward it reaps. The same reason all the best western engineers are currently in the middle east, bc it is where they will get the most money.

This kid probably takes whatever Dana White and Joe Rogan say as gospel. Now go put on your tapout shirt and wrestle with your boyfriends in your backyard.
