This girl had been brutally beaten and knocked out for multiple minutes following a bout in May. She didn't go to the hospital after that. Not only that, she's suffered three consecutive KO losses. This was gross negligence and yet another example of what terrible matchmaking can do.

No doubt there'll be idiots out there using this to bolster their argument that boxing should be banned.

I said it before and i say it again: Promoters and Matchmakers + the sanctioning body are primarily to blame.

It's utterly disgusting how Promoters are trying to "create" 18-0 records with padding them up against absolute bums who shouldn't be allowed to fight in the first place.

They eventually will. They are in the work to ban menthol cigarettes and flavored tobacco. Our society is moving in that direction to eliminate all things that are unhealthy or dangerous. Like the movie demolition man.

As much as I enjoy boxing, I would understand it being banned. Literally a sport about inflicting physical damage to the other participant. It really is barbaric and part of why it's attractive.

Agreed, it's sometimes quite shocking how poor some fighters are that have been sanctioned to fight it's like they've dragged some guy off the street who's never thrown a punch in their life and put them in with some undefeated prospect. There seems to be very little minimum requirement to become a professional fighter and so we end up having some terrible mismatches.

Depends from country and local laws. Some countries does have mandatory requirement to have am fights under belt, some no.

Matchmakers and events promoters too not always approves fights boxer's promoter and manager want to get on fight card.
Usually if they attempt to schedule 8 rounders vs low level opponents etc alike things.

    You Don't play boxing

Anybody caught cheating should be banned for life, especially those caught tampering with wraps and gloves

Is no one gonna talk about the fact they let an 18 year old ****ing fight a 31 year old? 21 should be the minimum you can turn pro

A woman from South Africa also died as a result of in ring injuries a few years earlier. It's pretty rare, but it does happen.

RIP to Zacarias Zapata and condolences to her friends and family.
