First of all! Im not sure if this is thr right place for this or if it should be in the lounge. but i thought it was boxing related so i decided to put it here! :huh

Well i was wondering what type of personalitys SHOULD be in the boxing world today and what would help boxing become very popular sport again.
( I know that there is a difference between the acting wrestling and boxing but i am of the opinion that if there was a personality in boxing like the rock. It would make boxing much more popular again :good )
Like for example what if there was a boxer with "The Rock" type personality?
Floyd Mayweather always claims how great he is but alot of people hate him.
The Rock also was not humble...but the crowd always loved that?
Is floyd going about his personality in the wrong way ? :?
Or whats making it so hes bringing so much hate on hisself?
    Discuss! :D

A Tyson like personality would help the popularity of the heavyweight division, he was able to attract people that wouldnt normally buy PPV and watch boxing. People love to watch other people say and do shocking things, thats exactly what we need to do to get more fans IMO.

Part of the thing with wrestling personalities is that the fans know its a gimmick and an act.

Ali got away with his selling because people knew he was clowning and borrowed his promotion style from Gorgeous George.

A serious guy is not really taken seriously. Personally, I think their skills should do the talking.

As for more outrageous personalities, I don't want boxing to become so WWE that people get lost and stop seeing as a sport, but solely as entertainment.

Bring on the best, and I'm sure a good blend of personas will follow.

The heavyweights champions right now have no personality, and look how unpopular the divison is. You need hype to make fights sell anymore, even Mayweather/Delahoya needed a little bit for there fight.

    You got me there.

I just don't want it to be a Jerry Springer sideshow like it was late in Tyson's career when he couldn't beat the palookas yet he said some perverse stuff.

It's difficult to see Ali interviews and know that he promoted "smart" (most of the time) without saying a bunch of sicko stuff.

I hear what your saying and agree to an extent. Most guys on ESB will always watch boxing no matter what, were starting to lose the average fan to UFC which isnt good and the only way to bring them type of fans back is with hype.

I agree Tyson was vulger and raw, but thats what the average fan wants to see. People want to see the unexpected and be shocked when the fight is over, thats what Tyson brought with him every time he stepped in the ring. Like it or not hes really what kept the average fan interested all those years.

Unfortunately, you're right. I just wish it were different.

Then again, I'd be lying if I said that Mike didn't make me laugh from time to time. He's an interesting guy.

No one wants a nice guy anymore. A guy with Rocky Marciano's personality wouldn't sell.

Your right, Wlad is a gentleman who never uses bad language and cant make a PPV match if his life depended on it, Tyson fights Mcbride 05 and its on in every bar on PPV. The man knows how to sell a fight, his matches arent fights, there events. As the great Mike Tyson once said "I could sell out madison square garden masturbating," I think that pretty much says it all.

The worst word I think Wlad used was "balls" when he talked about Ray Austin questioning his manhood.
