I thought Kovalev won the first match, but my gut is saying Ward wins the rematch easier. I'm kinda going by the old conventional wisdom that boxers have an easier time with punchers in a rematch. Made me wonder about how true that really is. So, think of all matches that arguably feature a top level guy who relies more on power than the opponent who relies more on boxing (at least in that match) and where the results vary in the rematch(es), either way. What examples can you think of that either support the boxer or the puncher? Ones that spring to mind in favor of the boxer are Ali Frazier, Ali Cooper, Lewis McCall, Wlad Peter, Wlad Brewster For puncher I'm having a harder time coming up with good examples off the top of my head, maybe Stiverne Arreola(Arreola not really a boxer but was outboxing him each time before getting sparked or nearly sparked out), maybe Hearns Leonard. Just thought it would be interesting to see that conventional wisdom examined more closely.
Kovalev is a boxer, that just happens to have heavy hands, he isnt a puncher. Kovalev is a superior boxer to Ward, the first fight proved it.
