Which fighter tasted the canvas the most times without ever being stopped in his pro career?

The first PAC fight was wild.

He was stopped by Johansson, Liston ×2, Ali×2 one of which was a retirement.

Misread the OP. I thought it meant fighters who were knocked down the most but went on to win. My apologies.

Sugar Ray Robinson had a fair few kd’s scored against him over a very long career but was only stopped inside the distance the once via exhaustion.

I’d be interested to know the official amount of times he was knocked down if anyone knows it actually?

In modern times, Marquez officially was floored 11 times and never stopped.

Bending the rules slightly, as by the letter of the law his final defeat was inside-schedule, and he didn't have quite as many as Marquez in any case....But Whitaker actually had ten knockdowns given against him in his career which I think would surprise a lot of people.

The majority of them weren't serious and down to balance as much as anything else, and some of them were just plain ridiculous and shouldn't have been recorded as knockdowns at all (Jacobs and Rivera off the top of my head). One or two others were a bit dubious, too. But it's a stat which people usually have a hard time believing.

Marquez and Whitaker are good replies. It's difficult to find people who weren't stopped, actually. Hector Camacho wasn't, either. But I have no idea how many times he was down. I didn't pay a lot of attention to him after a while. I remember when Reyes Cruz dropped him.

(edit) Actually, Whitaker was stopped. I forgot that.

Aaron Pryor would probably be high on the list, if not for his last fight before his initial retirement (where he was stopped). He went down all the time but won.

Everyone that comes to mind got stopped right at the end of their careers. (LOL)

Yes, Whitaker suffered a lot of knockdowns late in his career. Most or all of them happened when he was a welterweight. Although he was very good at 147, he never seemed natural at that weight. However, he was great at 135.

Camacho only went down once in his entire amateur and pro career, I’m pretty sure, and that was very late on in his pro career against a nobody.
