i really think Vernon Forrest could be the man to do it controlling the fight with his jab there is also no way PBF would be as effective on the inside as he was against hatton.

Cotto has a little chance more than anyone else.

I thought Hatton had a good chance, but didn't really perform and got KO'd!

    Erm........

Miguel Cotto wouldn't beat him, too hittable.
Shane Mosley ditto, though in his prime would give him a right duel.
Oscar De La Hoya is past his prime, if he was at his peak, possibly.....
Vernon Forrest i'm not sure about, never seen him.
Kermit Cintron nowhere near good enough
Antonio Margarito & Paul Williams ditto

I think that PBF owns anyone 140-154. Hate to say it, but I don't see anyone messing with his 0

Vernon Forrest has the best shot....He is long, has a great jab, decent hand speed, throws in combination, has good power in both hands, and decent footspeed and even has a decent shot at outboxing Mayweather. Its a fight that would force Mayweather to be the aggressor against the bigger man with the longer reach, and more power....sound familiar(Leonard-Hearns).

I like Forrest but to me the Wright name comes to mind. I know that Winky is moving to MW but if he goes back to 154 to fight PBF I think that he could do a much better fight than Forrest.

I am a fan of Cotto so by a fan measure I think that Cotto has the chance as well if he puts the right combitation of fight against PBF.

I agree that forest would give PBF hell... otherwise, maybe one of the 160 guys coming down to 154 and beating him with pure bullying and strength

I think Mosley has a good chance against PBF he is as quick as Floyd hits harder and is a good boxer. Imo the best out of the bunch style wise to beat him

hard to say but i think margarito maybe his toughest challenge ,not beacuse his technicalyty but because his great stamina punch output, and his willingness to go forward even when his geting hit

Mayweather is the Larry Holmes of our day, great fighter whose just a little too late to play with the big boys.

On a technical note, Mayweather is absolutly flat footed when it comes to dealing with a solid jab. Its this same reason he would have found the late 1970's and 1980's so difficult.

Mosley can't box and all of his L's came to guys that could box ... Floyd is a master boxer ... Shane probably wins 3 rounds total ...

    Margarito is too sloppy ...

Cintron has no heart and if he can't knock you out ... he will fold on his own ...

    Berto too green ...

Cotto will get knocked out ...

I never thought of it that way but you are right. In the late 90's-early 2000's welterweight was a great weight class but also had true stars to choose from and fight. Pernell Whitaker was a longtime champ, DLH and Trinidad were in there primes, Ike Quartey was as close to being a great fighter as you can get without being great, Shane Mosley was moving up and primed. As far as dealing with the jab, Mayweather takes it away. The best way to deal with a jab isnt movement, its to counter the jab with your own jab or counter with a power punch....makes a fighter hesistant to throw it all together. ODLH was doing great until Mayweather started to throw right hands over the jab and body shots underneath.
