I've weighed as much as 280, man, I think my knees would have exploded

Still have to brace up to skip rope, though, that might just be me being old as hell and needing to hang em up already. I've always meant to ask Bernard Hopkins how he deals with the arthritis and junk. Being an old pug SUCKS.

Sorry to hear about his knees, man. That sucks.

That's a lot of weight to be skipping on, me old fella was only 118 probably about 135-140 between fights.

Don't think Holyfield always trained that hart. In a lot of his fights especially later in his career, he would gas a lot by the middle rounds which was strange given the fact he did not employ a very high work rate in those fights.

Or maybe it was his medical or heart condition which always caused this.

I read that Golovkin has never had a sparring partner ablev to keep up with his groundwork and abdominal routines. George Groves, after having to admit that he'd had a rib broken sparring him, said that 'GGG' was doing four minute rounds with 30 seconds break, all in 110 degree heat.

I don't see a better conditioned man in the sport today. The guy threw 100 shots in the 8th round against Curtis Stevens.

I'm going to throw Vassily Jirov into the discussion. There were all kinds of stories about his trainer from the amatuer days rowing him out to the middle of a lake and leaving him there to swin back. He either made it or died. He also used to make him run down a corridor while being chased by pit bulls.

I have a friend that trained with him at his gym in Airizona a few years ago and said that he is all business. Obviously he is not on the same level as Marciano or Hagler but the guy always fought his heart out and had a rep for training hard and putting himself in the best position to win.

Yet, you believe Evander could bench press over 300 pounds, and Wlad K 400.

Jim Corbett had some tough workouts. Especially before his fight with Fitz.

I won't rest until Hagler has a statue. He's earned it. Just like Rocky did.

You would be wrong about that. If any famous boxer did put up anything over three, there would be video of it. If Evander was that strong he would be on par with elite power lifters in his weight class. That's just not happening with an athlete who has many other things on his mind besides max strength.

Mancini & Antuofermo deserve a shout. Neither guy ever had a speck of fat on them and there work rate was high. SI did a story on Ray that mentioned him carrying bags of cement and beating a hanging tire with a bat kinda a forerunner to the sledgehammer and tire of today.
Hurricane Carter worked hard in camp.
Ray Olivera threw more punches than most over the course of 10 rds.
