They might call in Del Boy. Chisora (enjoying a ranking again due to his win over Joyce) does his old mate a favour and plods his way to another L.
Taylor was one of the world’s best inside fighters under McGuigan. Davison changed his style to a back foot boxer and had him starting his attacks from too far out. He’s never had great head movement so when he’s attacking from a distance against good counter punchers like Catterall it means he’s far easier to hit and can get picked off quite easily. I’m amazed he couldn’t see it.
Tbf taylor beat ramirez under davidson arguably taylors best win. Cattarell went on to beat taylor after he left davidson as well as pretty much beating him the first time under davidson. If it was all down to davidson surely he,d have beat cattarell the second time and lost to ramirez if he,s as bad as stated.
Tbf to Ben that was good advice. (The slip the step jab and counter with right uppercut). And tbh it's Shane that's not right here. The slip outside and counter with a right uppercut is a great counter for someone stepping in with a jab. If this is done correctly there is no way someone is catching you with a short right hand. Now I'm guessing that in Shane's opinion AJ can't throw that shot correctly and if not thrown correctly and you leave your head inside, then the short right is effective. But he should of said, "that is a correct counter to throw against Daniels step in with jab but I just don't thing AJ can pull that move off" But for someone who can exercise this move correctly and slips out with shoulder rotation the short right is just not on the same lane to counter with or beat to the punch. it's thrown from outside the opponents jab and Ben did say "slip out"
True. But lets be really honest how good a call was it really bearing in mind....joshua had been knocked down four times. He was outfought....outsped....outpowered....and on his way to getting stopped at that point. We all thought the fight had been stopped the round before. The ref was running out of favours to hand out to joshua and joshua was running out of time. Shanes basically saying thats bad advice....but the reality was they we,re very much on the verge of being stopped regardless of the advice. 99 percent of the time it probably is bad advice. At the point they we,re at tho....it was time to roll the dice. Dubois was too fresh to let joshua off the hook. The only way you we,re going to stop him was by trying to put a dent in him...something he almost managed to do. Mcguigans input was basically dont take a risk trying to turn the fight around because you might be able to stay in the fight. The only problem with that is....he was getting pummeled badly in that fight on the verge of being stopped.
I agree. Holding and falling in is no guarantee either . Many a fighter been stopped doing that same thing. If that last big shot would of kod Daniel, Ben would be getting praise right now for "terrific corner work" Fact is they rolled the dice and it didn't work out. Aj didn't have the defence or mental awareness to spoil himself through the next couple of rounds.
Spot on for me. The writing was on the wall. If you,ve got someone like joshua knowing he does have power than can turn a fight without telling him to go for it your probably doing him a disservice after he,d been knocked over four times and looking odds on to get stopped regardless. We we,re probably past the point of staying in the fight.
AJ should have brought in Dr. Joseph Ajao as a trainer/guru plenty of times, Ben Davison is just a sheer imitation. This content is protected
What, slip out outside a jab with a right uppercut isn't the shot to counter a step jab with. Lol That's not 5D chess, that's fundamental boxing.
No because it lines you up for a right hand. Its not about the jab. Its about the right hand your mastermind theory doesn't see coming.
That's not 5D chess that's fundamental boxing How can you throw a right hand across your body and across your lead when you've put your opponent into your own mid range because you stepped and he dodged away. Your head is outside the opponents lead hand and at this point furthest away from his right hand Because you've slipped their step jab. A short right is a short straight or a short cross. The shot that gets caught with a short right hand is the right uppercut without a slip.
Because big brain 5D chess Ben Davison trained Joshua to keep his hands down to his chest and chin completely exposed at all times. His head is wide open to a right hand even moreso when he is turning upward into an uppercut smart guy.
What's hands down to chest got to do with it? I dont think you understand where the head position is as you slip a step jab Is. The jab hasn't come back yet and you throw the uppercut underneath. Like I said smart guy, your talking about an uppercut without a slip. Or slipping the jab that's been thrown without a step.
Because his head is wide open as the motion to actually throw the uppercut turns Joshua upward into the right hand face first unless you are expecting Joshua to throw an uppercut without moving.
