lol I have been down that road when I dared to suggest that perhaps boxers have gotten better and not worse, the whole damn board turned against me...

It's not worth debating, because you can never prove either points. People said Paul Williams was unbeatable, but then Quintana came along and proved everybody wrong. In boxing you're only as good as your opponent allows you to be, and if the "experts" can't predict the outcome between fighters from the same era. How on earth could anybody compare fighters who are fighting 30 years apart?

Me personally, I find it hard to believe boxing hasn't evolved like any other sport. We even have Floyd Mayweather fighting right now who most people, like him or not, acknowledge as the most SKILLED boxer the sport has ever seen...

But to each their own I guess...

Athletes have gotton better as the world continues to grow, as did Technology and Medicine. However, in terms of boxers, they pretty much has the same skill set as the older days.

Floyd uses the shoulder roll better then anyone (minus James Toney), when was that invented? I think back in the Golden days of Boxing. Floyd uses the peek a boo pop shot technique, when was that invented? Oh, in the Golden days of Boxing.
Floyd uses his legs to get him away from hard hitters, when was that invented? I think...oh yeah, during the golden years of boxing.

I hate to break it too you, but Floyd hasn't invented ****, he just has the God given gifts to enhance what was already invented.

I said it before on that other post where you were roasted at the stake and I'll say it again: SRR and the older pedestal fighters have the 2 attributes that is lost in todays Flashy, Money Making Bull **** boxing scene. Heart and Testicles. Those 2 right there make up for Speed, Endurance, Technique, and footwork. You see Speed, endurance, technique and footwork and all be "worked" on for improvements, but no matter how much you try, heart and testicle can only come natural, it's what Mayweather has Little of.

OK, can we qualify this guy as a parasite and a nuisance to the site, A.K.A a troll?

I've disproved every lame ass argument he has come up with, including the **** he tried to bring up in this original post, and instead of answering with anything intelligent, he just posts the same **** in other posts or threads because he has nothing to argue against my counter-points, and he figures he'll just spit this **** to those who haven't been following his beatdown in the other thread.

If he did beat "every single licensed fighter from 147-154", i would consider him as maybe beeing as good or close, to Sugar Ray. Until then my 'New to the art" friend, he couldnt even shine his shoes.

People overrate the old timers all the time.

They ignore all the **** of the era, and only remember the good.

They were active, but they fought **** oppositition that wasn't even as good as some of the sparring guys do these days to stay busy.

This is such an incredibly ignorant and ridiculous statement, proving you don't know anything about the era, the conditions, or the fighters. Will you people please stop speaking on **** you don't understand and clearly have taken no time to try to?

Its not such an absurd claim, less and less people are boxing; the smaller the talent pool the less talent there is likely to be.

My favorite one of these comments was "Floyd Mayweather is not a gentleman outside the ring like Sugar Ray Robinson was".

I would've said something about that as well, but I didn't really want to give southpaw anything to work with, so I just decided to stay out of that one. But yes, that one raised an eyebrow on me as well.

The thing about boxing is that its is a sport that is based 90% on heart. Other sports are based on size and speed. Boxing is the one sport that I think that you can make cross era predictions were the old school guys would beat the new school. The thing is you have to look at old school fighters as being much smaller today, and new school fighters having to fight at much higher weights then.

IE Robinson would today be a lightweight or Jr welter. Put him thought todays training camp and only fighting two or three times a year that would allow him to cut weight. In the old days they fought twice a month, so you could cut alot of weight, and fight at un-natural weights.
