Anyone else had this? Fairly common, I know, but this is my first time breaking a bone so I ain't too sure what the recovery is like. After full healing, will I be able to punch with it still? It doesn't look like a major break, but it's bad enough - the smallest (fifth) metacarpal has been impacted at the neck rather than snapped completely. Cheers.
I had a broken knuckle, it took half a year to repair properly as i rebroke it testing it out. If i can say anything, hitting with a broken bone is pure agony, make sure it's properly healed.
Yeah I'm giving this at least three months before I return to the heavy bag. I just can't stand the thought of muscle atrophy!
I suppose I'll just do a lot of running and sit ups, but it's the left hand I broke so I don't want to exercise the right too much - I'm right handed so there's a gap in strength anyway, don't want to make it any bigger.
You can still shadowbox at a high intensity. As in throwing powerpunches that miss, you'll still use the muscles so reversibility won't kick in.
Unprovoked street fight, in the dark, against four. I think I did pretty ****ing well to beat the crap out of them.
I know what you mean, hitting the bag is not much of a chore for a boxer. You could still do strength exercises to stop the atrophy, shadow boxing to keep the nerves sharp.
No, they weren't ninjas, nor were they sarky ****s. Believe it or not, every once in a while, someone other than your mighty self makes a good showing in a fight.
