I punched the wall a couple of years ago and my knuckles have been swollen a bit since then, I thought they were just swollen but I have read a bit about the boxers fracture in the last couple of months and think I might have broken my pinkie finger knuckle on my right hand but I never went to the doctor because I didn't think they were broken. If I have broken my knuckles, got a boxers fracture and it has healed it's self without a cast or splint will I be able to do boxing? I got a heavy bag recently and when I hit it even with just some Everlast evergel boxing rap gloves witch are fingerless gloves it does not hurt my hands, I am going to get some 16 or 18oz bag gloves, but I was just wondering if boxing and hitting heavy bag will damage possibly broken knuckles even more or break again?

Also I am trying to hit with my middle finger knuckles instead of my pinkie knuckles.

Just box. If you enjoy the sport and want to continue, do so. If you want to quit because you may injure yourself then quit.

I ****ed up my knee a few years ago. I was told by a doctor to never do squats again, what a load of ****. Still doing squats and my legs have never been stronger. Point is just get on with it. If you start getting pain in your hand then rethink things, until then get on with it.

Since when do you hit with your pinkie knuckles? Hit with your first 2 knuckles for best alignment.

If it was just fractured it wouldn't have healed wrong.

If it was more than just a lil fracture, you would know about it.

I shattered my hand in multiple places and it's fine to box with.

You don't always have to hit with the first two knuckles, Jack Dempsey talks a lot in his book about pushing power out through your pinky and hitting with the bottom three knuckles.

Dempsey was talking about "Power line" with straight hand and vertical fist. That is prahistorical bull**** and its you`ll never punch like that. Its ok to read it to understand some things, but learning that will do you no good.

Idk I find short hooks a lot easier and my forearms feel more stable if I connect with the bottom three knuckles but thats just me.

Dempsey advocates landing with three knuckles (pinky, ring, middle) for all punches not just the straight with a verticle fist.

and thats a recipe for a broken knuckles and weak punches. I think dempsey was explaining theoretical things, while the real thing is different
