    £12 minimum donation per year.

    Anyone donate to this?

BOXING NOW, formerly British Boxing TV, talk about it a lot. I believe it was mentioned on Talksport last month.

It's a good initiative but I wouldn't donate until I'm sure where the money is going; they say they are not accepting applications for funding until they have a minimum amount in the pot. They should answer where the money goes in the meantime, whether any of the directors draw a salary and where does the money go if they don't raise enough money in the pot to distribute out.

I've heard them say a few times every pound will go to the boxers, but on the website it says profits go to the boxers. It's inconsistent and seems to be ran unprofessionally, with grammatical errors on the website and so on.

There are many multi millionaires within boxing rings plus promoters who should be charged a % levy with all proceeds going towards this initiative.

The British Boxing Board of no Control should be responsible for the administration and accountability for all sums raised, securely holding sums in trust and making awards to boxers meeting set criteria.

Stopped giving to charities a long time ago as the begging on TV etc is for the huge wages of senior staff with crumbs going to the cause.

I’m the same mate, charity’s shouldn’t exist in this day and age much like food banks. The money the USA sent to Ukraine for a proxy war they started could have ended world hunger 5 times over, same with covid. They don’t want to eradicate it, me giving Lenny Henry a tenner once a year changes nothing. The impoverished countries will never ever get out of poverty as they are indebted to too many western countries and the interest alone kills them.

I certainly wouldn’t pay into a boxing charity as like you say these world level guys don’t get out of bed for less than 10M these days. Al though I would donate to go fund me pages for one on one incidences like Nick Blackwell and things like that.

Throughout the 90s and until the financial crash in 2007 20% of my income went to charity. It was reduced to 10% because I simply couldn't afford it. Since Covid hit it's down to between 2% and 3%. £12 is nothing so I was wondering what people thought of this. It doesn't seem very transparent, though, and as I said the inconsistencies don't fill me with confidence. I wonder if they've approached Mr Kinny.

20% is very generous more than the rich give (the supposed elites), fair play to you.

This is the correct way to handle it, a levy on tickets and revenue proportionate to the price/profit/purse along with independent donations all administered in a transparent account by the BBBoC. Then they can allocate the funds on a case by case basis such as injured fighters, retired fighters and grass roots boxing. Not that I trust the BBBoC to do this, they are an outdated, corrupt organisation that is in desperate need of modernisation.

It's a fantastic idea though and credit to them for trying, unfortunately they way this is presented has many red flags, it is not even a registered charity that I can see. They need to have a major rethink about how to execute this.

Is Gary from Welcome Estates that has set this up i believe.
Porky Russ was plugging it for a while and he has always been an advocate for Boxers getting pension ect.

Same here when it comes to charities, those CEOs need their huge wages before anyone gets anything.
Recently I got a begging letter from the Sally army asking for money to give someone a better Xmas, please donate £9 £25 or £45.
The ****ing cheek of it, how about here's a quid.
