I agree re Kovalev, however, ESPN published the offered purses to Salido and Corrales, and they were over $500k. So not sure where the "Lomachenko offering peanuts" rumour has come from.

I'm not sure I trust those reports from ESPN, I believe they're just parroting a lie by Top Rank/Egis Klimas.

Lomachenko in a video said he is offering Salido $200k. The very fact that it's reporting over $500k for Corrales proves to me that this is indeed a lie.

    Look at Loma's previous purses:
I don't for a second believe Corrales was given over $500k - the most unknown champ in boxing who was probably making $25k per fight - do you really think he's going to turn down over $500k? Since when is Corrales ever worth the same amount as Salido? Why on earth does he get offered more than a well known, consistent title holder who has Puerto Rican support? Puerto Rican day parade fight..Martinez get's $425k. Loma gets double for some weird, undeserving reason. Walters who is more well known was given only $300k.

Take the unknown Koasicha - he got $35k and Lomachenko got $750k. That is absurd.

Lomachenko can't just sit pretty on $1m. He has to fight for it like everyone else does, and earn it.

Regardless, Salido is the well known man, people pay to see him and has a victory over Loma. He deserves the lion share regardless. Lomachenko is talking the big talk saying how he'd bet a sizeable amount of his purses, why not just give Salido what he deserves? If this continues and Lomachenko continues to fight the 'fringe big names', then Loma is greedy and I won't be as much of a fan anymore. I like him because of his potential, he looks like a TBE fighter but sure as hell is no way near to proving it. He's an old man at 29 years old, with 400 amateur fights.

Salido has had fights where he has earned near that figure but it's not justified here.

Ricky Hatton. He wanted to be P4P and would face anybody who took him there. Who is P4P, Manny? Floyd? I want them. An when all that failed he was a broken man, he got paid either way but he only cared about being the best.

Trouble is, most times it doesn't matter what motivates the boxer. Boxing is the promoters business.

Top of my head, without thinking deeply:

    Carl Froch & Bernard Hopkins.

Though, now I've typed it, I think Froch, one of my favourite modern fighters did seek one last big cash out and retired when it wasn't coming and reality bit in.

But Hopkins. . . I dislike him, for his sneaky tricks and spoiling tendencies, but I also have to respect he was totally about legacy.

Yeah I agree he didn't want to fight Ward for a long time! But I do remember reading that in the end after ducking him he tried to get Ward to come to Nottingham to fight at Nottingham Forests stadium, the team Froch supports! And Ward turned it down, no surprise cause he doesn't travel anywhere like a real warrior would.

You don't remember reading about this then I take it?
