I agree with what you're saying - but what he's saying about Ward's commentary is true.. He's always trying to sound like some kind of genius with secret knowledge, and often comes off as a smug ass hole because it... With that said, I am a regular listener of his podcast and enjoy his show.

Not a Spanish speaker but I remember hearing that Barrera is a pretty mediocre commentator.

Probably because he doesn't always stick to the script. He has his biases, but it seems the commentators that keep getting work are the ones who bend over for the A side or whomever the promoters and network are pushing.

 

even if you like him theres a clear disconnect between throwing 9-10 low blows in a row and turning around and talking about vague nebulous philosophical concepts, the way he fights he should talk about monster trucks and steel reserve instead of stoicism
