Was having this chat with a friend about this and thought I'd throw it out on here. What % of the top line does a fighter see ? I'm guessing the manager/ trainer / camp take around 35% assuming the fighter was signed up for a fee, then the taxman takes around 25% leaving the fighter around 40% of the headline amount ? Obviously there will be variations but as a general average ? Any thoughts ?
The tradition held that the corner took one third of the total purse, and the fighter of course is then taxed on the remaining two-thirds.
To revise, he is actually taxed on whatever is left after any expenses such as flights, hotels, training expenses, etc.
