Realise this has prob been done in some form or another but with the toney Couture fight its time for a new one, the reason being I cant think of a worse fighter suited to MMA than Toney (defensive boxer that he is), thats not to say he doesnt have a chance with them little gloves. Anyway, id love to see Shannon Briggs in there, he would have the upper body strength to handle himself on the ground and standing up would murder anyone. watching the Lesnar Carwin fight I just reckon he would beat the pair of em and they are supposedly the 2 best heavies out there, as long as he learned some take down defence its more than winnable. Also gutted the Mayorga fight fell through as he was due to go in with a decent fighter in Din Thomas. Anyone else spring to mind folks??
kermit cintron , power puncher , wrestling background , great athlete, not suited to grueling 12 round fights , but would do well in short fights 3 round
Cintron, Hatton, Haye, Enzo, Klitschkos, maybe Vic and Green. This is based on a combination of talent and training in other disciplines.
I reckon Enzo could make Middle (185lbs) can you imagine Enzo's punch against a mma/ufc middleweight with 4oz gloves:shock:, I reckon Enzo would spank Bisping with a bit of proper mma training.
He could make 185 or pack on muscle to 205. His power would be insane in those gloves. Plus I think he could invest heavily in grappling to cover that shakey chin.
For a HW boxer, all they have to do is have an ounce of TDD and keep it standing, even an average boxer will win against Brock. Against Shane Carwin, all they have to do is weather the 4 minute storm, after than Carwin will be next to useless. As for a boxer who could adopt in MMA. This guy is unknown but Garth Wood would be great in MMA. The guy isnt the best boxer but he is tough as nails, loves to tackle (ex rugby league player) and his boxing fights already look like MMA anyway.
:deal Garth Woods is a horrible boxer and would be a horrible MMA fighter. He's gonna be another name on Mundine's bum list in a few months, when will these ex NRL players get it?
Your only looking at technique in a purely boxing sense but I can honestly see Woods being a far better MMA fighter, I think he would do well as well.
I actually thought his first comment was even worse, he thinks if a boxer has a touch of TD defense that they could easily beat Lesnar.:-(
Makes me wonder why other fighters (Couture, Herring, Mir) didn't try any TDD with Lesnar, after all he was only the NCAA heavyweight champion, nothing a simple sprawl couldn't stop atsch
Because he knows how to tackle? I'm sorry but opponents in the cage won't be running at him, and he won't have one or two other blokes to assist in the take down. Also what does he do once the fight goes to the ground? Are rugby league players suddenly versed in BJJ or wrestling? If he tries to clinch like he did with Kariz against a MT guy he'll get kneed to a pulp. Nothing worse than a shot football player thinking they can make it in the ring (or cage) because they have an ounce of athletism or had acouple of brawls on the footy field.
