I'd like to hear this as well. Jumping rope is great for warming up. It works on your rythem, footwork and a bit of stamina. As for it being boring, it's hardly more boring than doing roadwork, so i don't think that's a good argument. I don't think it ever hurt anyone (except Freddy:D;)) to skip 10-15 minutes before a workout.

people who are trying to say skipping is useless or not benicficial enough.

you must be mad...it keeps you on your toes all the time and gains leg strength in the calves which do the bouncing. it also helps you not to plod and when you plod you can be hurt far easier.

when your on your toes you dont get smacked as much becuase if you do get hit. you get knocked back and thus dont take a harder hit.

joe calzaghe as good as he is punch wise has rather dodgy footwork I.E that left leg looks like he is dragging it.

maybe there are other training techniques but it works and is cheap as hell.

Calzaghe said in his own book that he hated jump rope because that was what his first trainer made him do when he started.

And Jump rope is ****ing over rated, running, burpees and repeated explosive jumps are better. for stamina/conditioning.

For footwork, shadowboxing, and guess what? PRACTICING FOOTWORK. It's much better than jump rope.

I ****ing hate those tricks everyone seems to do yeah, what's that gonna do in a fight, when I jumped rope before I just did doubles and that was it (for cardio) apart from that, jump rope is a waste of time.

I wouldn't say it's a waste of time, it's definitely not needed I agree but I think there are movements and balance from foot to foot that help in coordination in boxing.

It's also a great way to condition without having to jump on the ground or jump up or do anything crazy.
