This is a thread dedicated to boxer's who last longer in fights (due to their ruggedness, heart, iron jaw and punch resistance) than they have any right too and can take a frightening amount of punishment. I will start with two: Ajose Olusegun (see Matthysse fight as an example) and Kassim Ouma (see Golovkin fight as an example) Let's here some more...
Holyfield. Has this guy finally stopped fighting? Geez.... I know you're tough Holy, but you have a life to live! Guy fought way too long.
Denis Lebedev in his fight against Jones was way too brave for his own good, plus his corner were disgraceful that night.
Chris Eubank is King here. He took Benn's biggest ever punches flush over 21 rounds, more power shots in a single fight v Watson(rematch) than anyone ever, and as a fighter who started at 154 he stood up to 207lb-on-the-night Carl Thompson's right hands with his left eye closed from a thumb after six rounds twice (ie not able to see the blows!)!
Abso-fukkin-lutely. I know the Russian boxing hierarchy were expecting a lot outta Lebedev, but it's not like Moscow was about to fall to the Wehrmacht, allowing a guy to carry on fighting in that state was appalling. I understand Kostya was under a lot of pressure but I would have expected better from him as an ex-fighter. Curious about East Asian boxing, don't really know enough about it to give an opinion, but a lot of the Japanese and Korean boxers I've seen seem to ship a lot of hurt without going down (usually lighter weights tho' TBH).
Glen Johnson He had a long hard fought career and should have retired after Froch but then took a 12 round beating from Bute, followed by a hard close loss to Fonfara and then another beating from George Groves Respect to the road warrior but damn he soaked up some punishment in his career He fought after Groves too in the Dominican Republic and won via TKO 2 and is now fighting undefeated Isiah Thomas (12-0) in Vegas on the 23rd of August at cruiserweight I knew he was bullshitting when he said he would retire after Fonfara
