Name some fighters throughout history who's loses were really blessings in disguise that helped them grow & become better fighters. The most recent example is of course Canelo Alvarez. Who are your picks?

Hayes loss to Thompson gave him pause for thought, and seemed to make him a better fighter.

Bobby Chacon after his 9th round stoppage loss to Ruben Olivares. He learned the benefit of getting in shape (well, not always) and learned to body punch.

I have a sneaking feeling, that his first loss might have spared him from making the same mistake, when he actually held the title.

Sanders blasting Klitschko out did him a favour. His masterful defensive style was a result.

Hopkins first title shot loss to Roy Jones Jr.

Lennox improved after losing to McCall, and working with Steward.

Benn fought more controlled after getting schooled by Watson.

Hagler got a little more aggressive after getting screwed with the draw against Vito.

Hagler’s first loss was against Boogaloo, which I thought Hagler won. The Monroe fight was a clear loss for Hagler by all accounts.
