    Name some boxers that fought good opposition very early in the career, and didnt experience worthless padding of there records.

    By age 22 Fernando Vargas had already fought Trinidad, Winky, and Quartey. Those are BIG fights for a 22 year old.

    One thing i should mention aswell Austrailian boxers get throw in the deep end straight away, I only know 3 Austrailians boxers:

    Anthony Mundine = fought a 12 rounder in his 5th fight

    Micheal katsidas = fought a 12 rounder in his 2nd fight

    Sam soliman = fought a 12 rounder in his 2nd fight

    Age-wise it's tough to beat Benitez, but he was done by the time he was 26. Since he became champion at 17, he was fully experienced by his early 20's. Taking on a great fighter like Cervantes just about 3 years into your career is impressive stuff.

    Leon Spinks fought Ali in his 8th pro fight, and after that there was Ali again in his next fight, Coetzee right after that, contendor Alfredo Evangelista after that, Larry Holmes in his 15th fight, Carlos DeLeon soon after that, and so on. He didn't do well against them, but he was in tough from the begining.

    Whitaker fought a former title-holder Alfedo Layne in his 11th fight, Roger Mayweather in his 12th, and fought Ramirez for the title in his 16th.
