A number of boxers that recently were considered Contenders , now have become "trial-horses" for upcoming talent..

I would considered some of these guys to fill this description:

    Zab Judah

    Ben Tackie

    Sharmbe Mitchell

    .....

Judah was still a contender up until the Judah fight

Mitchell - yes but he was always C+ Class really

    Tackie - always C Level

How about Kevin Kelly, Rahman, Holyfield

At this point I would not even considered Kevin Kelly a trial horse either, he is a journeyman now...

Rahman, Holy yes.....sadly for Holy thou

Dominick Guinn for sure, though he was never much and Mesi would have always beat him in hindsight. Guinn a guy whose climax was the Dokiwari fight on the night Mesi KTFOed TOS Williamson. now we have to see him sleepwalking through fights on espn constatnly. zzz zz

sharmba mitchell, is he still fighting by the way? if he's retired he did become sort of a trial horse towards the end of his career.

one of the biggest turn-arounds for a pro heavyweight has to be DOMINIC GUINN. i remember he was coming up and everyone thought he would be the next champ - he looked really good.

after a couple losses he is now just a ****ing steppingstone for the newbies.

Good thread and I agree with the choices.

Going back, I felt Oba Carr was also that type of fighter..

i think people tried to use rahman as a steppingstone but he just gets lucky and wins.

Howard Eastman is the biggest trial horse out there.
He first fought Abraham when he was coming up, then fought Miranda when he was coming up, then lost to Wayne Elcock, so they fed him to Duddy and now theyre gone feed him to Andy Lee.
