Which boxers seemed to lose there punch resistance later in there career. Sugar Ray Leonard (v camacho); I think it was more rust and inactivity that caused this ko Erik Morales seemed to lose a bit of punch resistance (it wasnt totally destroyed as recently showed against Maidana) We will never know with Roy Jones as he never got hit flush during his career Holyfield got ko'd by a blown up light heavy late in his career
Mancini was wasted by Haugen in 1992...... Tyson looked brittle and shaky against Danny Williams and McBride in 2004 & 2005.....
That's iffy on Mike........... For a guy who was slacking off in camp, Mike sure looked buffed and solid at a slightly elevated 230 + or - pounds by 2002 to 2005.... For all of Mike Tyson's excuses, he never looked a friggin' slob with love handles and a double chin like the ex 1980s WBA and WBC slobs were accustomed to entering the ring for battle..... Even Tyson of 2001 at 239 pounds for Brian Nielsen wasn't slobbish...... Tyson handled and held extra weight pretty good.... However, Tyson was so shot by 2004 that it was sickening to watch...... earnie shavers was never the most durable guy but he had an awful chin as he got older like against Yates. Ron Lyle also certainly lost punch resistance when he got KO'd by Ball and Cooney.
bypassing my being a tit.... matthew saad muhammad and ezzard charles seemed infinitely more knockout-able as they got older
Christ, Shavers looked like **** in '95 against Yates......... Shavers at age 50 was down in weight, but the gross loose flesh hanging off his back was not good.... Shavers had a good round 1, and was doing okay in round 2, but then Yates nailed Shavers with a pair of rights and Shavers was on his back seeing stars..... Shavers was shot and should've known better than to come back that late in his life....... As noted, Shavers never took big punches well........ Peace... MR.BILL
Saad could still absorb punishment when he was older, he just coudn't get out of the way. Charles was ko'd in his prime, so one couldn't say he had a great chin even on his best days.
Doug Dewitt had a great chin, but once he was ko'd once, it was over for him. Mugabi showed that he could absorb punishment and come back, but once Hagler broke him, he clearly didn't have the punch resistence he once had.
After Hagler cut Mugabi down in 1986, Mugabi's chin went south........ Mugabi would always get brutally KO'd on his face afterward..... MR.BILL
