The only reason Hatton "smashed the ****" out of kostya was because the worst ref on earth,Dave Parriss, allowed Hatton to employ every dirty tactic that Hatton practiced(and Hatton practiced MANY of them as he was a FILTHY fighter) without any consequence whatsoever.I have NEVER seen a worse referreed fight(although I haven't seen Mares-Asbeko yet). The other fighters you mentioned weren't anything special at 140 either.

The answer to this question depends to a large extent on the age of the weight class and the historical strength of the weight class.

McGrain reminded me that I don't see Monzon getting by Burley. But his competing with Burley is impressive in and of itself. It is probably more impressive than the proclaimation that Calzaghe was unbeatable at SMW. The middleweights are a deep, old division -as are the lightweights and the welterweights. There are generations of killers in those divisions.

But the Super middles? I was a teenager when its modern version began -how deep can it be...? Expand the definition to include those light heavyweights who came in at 166/7 and suddenly Calzaghe ain't so competitive anymore.

I'd give Moon about 50-50 shot of beating him. Same with Watanabe.

He never fought anyone worthy of note--in spite of the fact that his was the strongest era for the weight.

Nobody touches a prime Chang at junior flyweight. He had a horrible foot injury when he "lost" to Zapata, and even then I haven't seen anyone who saw that fight say Zapata actually won.

I'd also add that Harada at flyweight would be very tough to beat.
