thats what i was thinking. his life story could rival raging bull. it could start with his early days as a pimp/ soccer hooligan getting serious about boxing, then to his prime defending the MW title in foreign/oponents turf, hard partying lifestyle, his numerous mistresses and the beatings he gave them during his reign, killing his wife, an argentine hero's time in jail and closing with the life ending car crash. shot in authentic locations, spoken in spanish etc... the stuff films of the year are made of, or maybe a nod for best foreign film. it's the best choice for a biopic about the life of a boxing legend. a tapia movie has the makings of a good movie as well.
Like I said when this topic was brought up before, I believe the story of Jack Johnson and all the **** that he went through should be told and seen. The man is a American Legend.
Im sure thats already in the works buddy! that guy who plays Chris Rocks dad in everybody hates Chris would be a good shout
dude everyone knows this. but I'm not sure that it is actually about mickieward or just loosy basedon his story. mark walberg is going to play mickie and matt damon is going to play his brother.
I haven't read all of this thread yet so forgive me if its all ready been mentioned but a movie on mathew saud mohamed would be wicked!
Nobody mentioned this, but I think they should make a movie about Buster Douglas. If you think about it, the storyline would be even better than in "The Cinderalla Man". They should call the movie "42-1".:good What do you guys think?
Yeah, really now! More interesting and unique to any other boxer would be the story of Carlos Monzon. The contrast alone between his successful, unbeaten reign as Middleweight Champion, versus his radically opposite, miserable failure of a personal life, particularly after retiring on top, and then spiralling out of control to the depths of a life sentence for the horrible and tragic murder of his woman. The same volcanic rage and cold as steel anger and hatred that propellled him to the top and kept him there, as far as boxing was concerned, was also responsible for plunging him into the abyss of a prison cell for murder. The control and calculating, steely demeanor that worked for him so well as the greatest of all middleweight champions, in my opinion, was nowhere to be found in his tragic personal life. THIS would be one hell of a movie, but who would play the lead? Years ago it was rumored that a movie of Monzon's life was in the works with Mickey Rourke (!?) set to play the lead. Mickey Rourke?????? Nothing against him at all, but wouldnt it be a bit more natural to have a Hispanic, at least a man with somewhat Indian features to play the part of Carlos Monzon? Monzon was never a crowd favorite inside OR outside the ring because of his sullen, cold, somewhat emotionless countenance and demeanor, so it wouldn't be a matter of overacting and emoting from whoever played him in a movie. It's basically a case of a super-successful and dominant boxing career of one of the true elites of ring history, who just happened to be an out of control monster outside the ropes.
The most compelling movie would be the George Chuvalo Story. Loses his whole family to drug addiction and suicide, never knocked down, but beaten up. In fact, his family did to him what Ali, Foreman, Frazier couldnt do, they KO'd him. But he still got up.
If done properly this could be an ATG film. The violence, the back story, the tragedy and the tension would provide an epic mix of emotion.
