Probably not the right section indeed, but I'll answer. - Aziz Mouhiidine. He's Italian Heavyweight with North African roots. He's incredibly fast with his hands and feet for his weight-class. I'd say He's the fastest PFP amateur fighter today. He'll have to get past a legend in Julio Cesar La Cruz for the gold, but He already beat him last time They met and Julio is only getting older. - On American side, Jahmal Harvey is worth keeping an eye on. He came out of nowhere to win the World Championship in 2021, but They were held close after Olympics and not every federation brought their best team. He recently won the Pan American games and beat the Cuban in the final, so He's going to be one of the favorites for the medal one way or the other. He competes in Featherweight division, I believe. - Makhmud Sabyrkhan at Bantamweight is another one. He's great technician, complete all around boxer and I believe the best young fighter from Central Asia. Those would be my top 3.
Ha, why? Damian Durkacz is pretty good actually - might have an outsider chance for a medal with some luck, which didn't happen for Poland, with male boxers, in over 30 years.
Keeping my eyes peeled for the Cubanos and Uzbeks. Golovkin is head coach for the Kazakhstani team (or is the commissioner of it, something like that), which is very talented and should pick up some medals. Erislandy Alvarez is a very good Cuban super-lightweight who’s a better brawler than most traditional Cubans are who won his Olympic qualifier with a huge cut above his eye. Hasanboy Dusmatov should win a medal for Uzbekistan at bantamweight I hope, very crafty guy. Saken Bibossinov is a pretty slick Kazakh flyweight and is a bit of a typical rangy Soviet outboxer type of guy. And of course Khyzhniak is always quality television. I expect Kazakhstan to take home a truckload of medals through, they’ve got a lot of very good talent coming through. Hoping Julio César La Cruz can join the three gold medal club in spite of his age.
