Bump Gotta say, Meldrick Taylor’s skirt trunk in the Norris fight was pretty… interesting. This content is protected
The biggest controversy re trunks in the 70s I’ve seen was when Ali faced Patterson in 1972, both refusing to forgo their white with black trim boxing shorts for “identification” purposes which I assume is outlined in the rules. It was ultimately decided that both men were sufficiently distinguished by their prior careers, achievements and reputations as to moot the question of a mere matching trunks confusing matters. Imagine, years later, the same conundrum involving two boxers fronting in identical “skirts”. One fighter be like, “OMG, I told you to call me beforehand so we wouldn’t clash/twin!”
Nope. The worst abomination is Jim Corbetts butt cheek exposed shorts. Hands down most offensive of all time.
Not a skirt but when Michael Gomes fought and beat Alex Arthur he wore shorts that would have been approved by MC Hammer they were that long and baggy. Not usually a fan of the skirt look, especially as you then need cycling shorts on underneath and lets be honest no one should be seen dead in them. The odd person gets away with it, Katsides is a good one and it suited Paulie and Camacho but few can pull it off.
Gamboa and Hatton also wore long baggy shorts too. Such an odd look and I can’t understand why anyone would wear shorts that descend close to the feet.
Watching Camacho, Malignaggi, Broner lose badly in their skirts against Chavez/Cotto/Maidana was pretty amusing.
Yeah Hatton could wear pretty long one to at times...almost near a 3/4 with all the embellishment he had a times must have weighed a ton.
