Cleaning out some files and I came across an old August 13, 1946 news article that quotes Tommy Gomez as saying "I admit I can't box a lick but I can punch. So I go in and throw them until something drops."

Any other examples come to mind?

PS - Article also claimed that Gomez had withered all the way down to 125 pound after being shot up in WWII!

Rocky Marciano to Lew Eskin in BI, and to Peter Wilson in an interview for Ringside Seats.

I also vaguely recall a quote from Jess Willard (I think) mentioning that he never really learned how to box, or something like that.
